News Ticker: Coheed and Cambria, Live Nation, The Weavers, Akon

8/8/08, 9:22 am EST

  • Prog rockers Coheed and Cambria are planning to record a prequel album based on their series of albums that inspired lead singer Claudio Sanchez’s comic book series The Amory Wars.

  • Live Nation posted a second quarter income of $1.2 million. Despite the increase, numbers were still down from over the same quarter last year, but huge tours from Madonna and Coldplay keep the company on the rise.
  • Erik Darling of the folk group the Weavers died after a battle with lymphoma. He was 74. Darling joined the Weavers after Pete Seeger departed and penned the folk hit “Walk Right In” as a member of the Rooftop Singers.
  • Perhaps trying to improve on his faked criminal record, Akon missed another court date to face charges for throwing a 15-year-old fan off the stage during a concert. Akon is next expected in court September 3rd.
