Iggy & The Stooges’ Stolen Truck Found, But No Instruments Onboard

8/6/08, 8:55 am EST

Canadian police have recovered the truck that was carrying Iggy & the Stooges‘ equipment that was stolen outside the band’s Montreal hotel. Unfortunately, all the instruments had already been removed from the vehicle and remain missing. The truck was found several blocks from the hotel. The Stooges are set to play a concert tonight in Toronto using borrowed equipment. Since the majority of the equipment had serial numbers, the possibility to resell the instruments will be difficult, police said. On losing his long-time Gibson bass, Mike Watt said “Her last gig was smoking. Igg was going off and the Montreal people were pumped up.” The band set up a website detailing their lost equipment here.

Swingline | 8/6/2008, 11:26 am EST

Great response from Mike Watt.

Give back the gear!

Living Corpse | 8/6/2008, 11:31 am EST

Yeah those assholes should just give back the equipment and throw in a t-shirt for iggy while they’re at it.

I love the implied converse to this argument. If they are judged to be “bad guys”, it’s OK to steal from them.

“If they are judged to be “bad guys”, it’s OK to steal from them.”

Yeah..so we can illiminate all bros from the investigation
and we can lay our bets all those involved are heartless, power mongering whores.. and therefore they being senseless..as they obviously are to get ahold of traceable gear; they’ll only create a sensation for Iggy and the Stooges spelling out who the real stooges are in the world today.

They left the guitars in the van!?!? If Johnny Ramone has ever taught the music world anything, it’s YOU BRING THE GUITARS TO YOUR HOTEL ROOM.

That sucks to hear though.

My heart goes out to The Stooges, especially Mr. Mike Watt. All I can say is that’s some SERIOUS bad karma, stealing’ gear. Very uncool…
