Oasis’ “Dig Out Your Soul” Gets Release Date, Warner Distribution

7/30/08, 1:41 pm EST

Oasis‘ seventh album Dig Out Your Soul will be released on October 7th. Additionally, it was announced that the band’s new album — released through the group’s own Big Brother Recordings — will be distributed in the North America by Warner Music. “The new music kicks ass,” says Warner Bros. Records COO Diarmuid Quinn, obviously excited to add Oasis to his label’s roster. Meanwhile, Sony BMG will continue to handle Oasis’ U.K. distribution. “The Shock of Lightning,” the album’s Noel Gallagher-penned first single, will hit radio in mid-August (but you can hear a snippet of it at the end of this video. Dig was recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios with producer Dave Sardy and mixed in Los Angeles. For the album’s track list and strange cover art, check the band’s official website.

Fuck yeah ive been waiting for the new album for awhile now. I hope this album will be huge in the US and get them a bigger following here.

THESEGUYSSTINK | 7/30/2008, 3:32 pm EST

Is it me or does Oasis at times evoke The Beatles? I see a definite Revolver/Sgt. Pepper influence in the album art, let alone the play on the album’s title. I despise these overrated whiny has beens. When are they going to realize that its over?

black bottom | 7/30/2008, 5:19 pm EST

I like Oasis. I don’t play their albums often but whenever I do they sound great.

Musical Jenius | 7/30/2008, 7:19 pm EST

That clip from the new song sounds promising at the cover art is pretty cool too. As always looking forward to the new album, i just hope it’s not disappointing as usual.

Andrew | 7/30/2008, 9:06 pm EST

The new clip they’ve released for this album has Liam’s vocals sounding great. I’ll be patiently waiting for October.

versedandvested | 7/30/2008, 10:34 pm EST

well if the brief clip and early insider crtiques of the album are any indication, it looks like another great oasis album that will be all but completely ignored America.

Fine by me, then I can see them in 3-4,000 seat theaters rather than the 70,000 seat stadiums they play to the rest of the world who are long past the staid, largely empty Beatle’s references (yeah, they’re four guys from the UK who play pop/rock songs on guitars).

genius. Best part is, most of these dolts haven’t even heard 5 songs they’ve laid down in the best decade.

Pete | 7/30/2008, 11:32 pm EST

Oasis was my favorite band for a long time. For whatever reason, I just stopped listening to them several years ago! Anyway, I hope the new cd will draw me back to them. We’ll see.

MusicMan | 7/31/2008, 12:10 am EST

Oasis is still the world’s best modern rock band.
They got it all.
CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THEM AT MSG!

thunderroadsupernova | 7/31/2008, 10:09 am EST

hey jerkoff these guys stink, there one of the most important bands to come out of england in a long time, pretty funny havent had a big hit in us since 95 but sold out the garden in 20 minutes in 05. u name another band whos done that recently u prob like coldplay u dork. cant wait for the new record cheers!!

Mario | 7/31/2008, 10:31 am EST

OASIS is the only band that matters! In an era of mediocre acts, they could very well be rock and roll’s last heroes. Great to have you back, guys!

K | 7/31/2008, 5:17 pm EST

Their last album ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ in ‘05 was very good and immensely underrated in the U.S. What band even in this country were big from ‘94 -’96 and are still selling out MSG in under an hour? Pearl Jam and…..

Even their so called ‘bad’ albums are still pretty good.

Joe | 7/31/2008, 5:41 pm EST

Oasis—really good band. No need for them to be pricks. I read where they “kicked out” U2 from Abbey Road even though U2 wasn’t there. Uhmm, you guys have been jocking U2 and worshipping the Beatles for a long time. Acknowledge it.

Hook Nose Mike | 7/31/2008, 7:23 pm EST

Happy to here the good news, hopefully ill here more of them on the radio instead of this garbage they play all the time.

sles | 8/3/2008, 5:02 am EST

First off…bow down to the greatest rock band of our generation. They DO have it all…songs, albums, live shows, massive charisma. Seriously…what more can a great rock band have?…Nothing!…That’s final. New record a 10?…No question it will be

Harry Peratesties | 8/4/2008, 12:37 pm EST

You must respect Oasis, you don’t have to like them, but you have to respect what they’ve done.
I don’t know why we have to endure the Jonas Brothers in the US and Oasis is ignored these days.
It’s a damn shame.

Give a band a break | 8/4/2008, 7:45 pm EST

No matter what your belief is on these guys there is a reason they won’t go away no matter if Liam is a “prick” what has that got to do with anything (just don’t have him around for afternoon tea). I here Renaldo is a prick does it stop people watching Manchester or Portugal or indeed being wowed by his trickery with a football (He is what Americans might call a soccer player). I think Bono the politician is A COMPLETE PRICK Did he not cross the line sucking Bushes real Brain. (But but but u2 are a top band in all fairness whether you hate an attitude of a member or not it should be about the quality of the band). Ali disrespected every opponent he ever fought he referenced there mothers and this only made him more loved. I think Rolling stone needs to really stop trying to influence people’s opinions and give every band the respect they deserve. All I read in this mag about Oasis are derogatory so it’s no surprise a band who sell millions of records and play to millions of people get a one paragraph intro to an album that just might sell another few million copies, even in the era of piracy. So I ask why not give us a copy of Rolling stone celebrating a band who have given us back the music when people where blinded by rave and the guitar nearly disappeared back in the early nineties .They may have even helped Beatles sales in 94-97 by becoming a marketing machine for the fab 4 and I’m sure Sir Paul and ringo will admit it did their sales no harm weather the cash was needed or not.
All TV offers is a world of reality shows music is the only hope we have of creativity and guess what u don’t even have to like the people who make it.
Respect and JA bless

TOM | 8/4/2008, 8:24 pm EST

ITS TRUE

Kirsten | 8/5/2008, 6:15 pm EST

Great band. I can’t wait to hear the album.

Incidentally, way to keep on top of things, Rolling Stone magazine. You can put the Jonas Brothers on the cover of your rag yet you report this about a month after everyone else has.

phillip | 8/6/2008, 9:11 pm EST

liam Gallagher is one of the last true rock greats

He should be on your cover.
America does love oasis
If radio here was playing their new stuff and mags such AS RS were still covering them, most people would then know they were still around and if those people hear the music thats all it takes.

You Know, it’s not all about whats played on mtv and what jonas bros. or fall out boy cd kids are buying at walmart.

Rolling Stone, Get it together.
Youre missing out on the important events in music. Cat Power, Robert Pollard, Oasis.. so much real stuff you hardly mention.

Barrelass | 8/11/2008, 6:49 pm EST

Making some of the only music that matters anymore

frederic gallagher | 8/21/2008, 4:51 am EST

great lads.

Johan, NY | 8/27/2008, 9:58 am EST

The best band in the world return
The Shock of the Lightning is immense
Best since Do You Know What I Mean!

Mike | 8/28/2008, 3:20 am EST

Oasis is still making real music while many so called ’stars’ offer up garbage.Noel is a gifted song-writer/guitarist and deserves more respect.

Samer, MI. | 8/31/2008, 12:47 am EST

Oasis are the best rock band in the world today! We haven’t had a band that has caused stirred controversy since Oasis! Their music kicks ass whether America is willing to admit it or not. They are far more superior than Nickelback, Goo Goo Dolls, and even Coldplay! Noel is a songwriting genius and Liam is becoming an accomplished songwriter in his own right. Gem and Andy are the soul behind the new Oasis. It turned out hat Guigsy and Bonehead’s departure from Oasis was the best thing that has ever happened to the Gallaghers! I love Oasis! Always have, and always will! Keep rocking! and as for you Rolling Stone magazine and American media in general: if you don’t respect Oasis, then f**k you!

Alix | 9/1/2008, 1:47 pm EST

Liam’s voice sounds awsome in the video released last August for their first single, “Shock of Lightening”
Still Best Band to me, it’s a shame they’re shunned in the US.

REY | 9/2/2008, 1:05 am EST

CAN’T WAIT FOR THE NEW ALBUM, I HEARD SOME SONGS FROM THE NEW ALBUM ON YOU TUBE LIKE: 1.FALLING DOWN, GREAT FUCKING SONG! 2.SHOCK OF THE LIGHTNING, GREAT LYRICS AND LIAMS VOICE JUST SIMPLY AWSOME! 3. TO BE WHERE THERE’S LIFE, SOUNDS LIKE IT SHOULD OF BEEN ON THE BEATLES REVOLVER ALBUM, CAN’T FUCKING WAIT IT’S GOING TO BE A MEGA ALBUM. THE BOYS ARE BACK !!!

Patricia | 9/12/2008, 3:12 pm EST

Hi,
I can’t wait for their album either. But let me tell you they are tributing John Lennon for sure! You see I am in the music business and John Lennon will be talked about soon more than ever because he has a lovechild daughter who is set to inherit millions that michael Jackson is holding in escrow. The music business knows this that is why they are all gathering and writing songs beatle influenced. Capital of culture is ready in Liverpool and everyone is ready. Don’t you see this is a tribute to John Lennon and the daughter he never met. It will be a big event that should start this fall leading well into 2009. Liam even wanted to purchase a Dakota apartment this year. He knows what is going to happen. It is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yankees music is shite they can have it noel liam top drawer our kidd keep doing what youve allways done quality work without any rivals to come marginly close!! mint.

AngelChild | 9/29/2008, 4:34 pm EST

They should be on the cover of RS as the only band worth a damn these days, now that the Foos are taking a break.

The new single is a great choice, a rocker, that’ll blow the minds of most of the US who think that all they do is ballads and adult contemporary garbage.

RS, get over the fact that the Gallaghers only posed for one photo when they were on your cover, and do another article about them!

andy sparks | 10/5/2008, 6:20 pm EST

rolling stone, man i don’t know where to start with your magizine.
at one point your material and review did matter, but your corporate shit now. you need to cover better acts such as Oasis!

oasis4evr | 11/30/2008, 9:36 pm EST

its not like america doesnt care about oasis, no one gives a care to mention them.even though they are the best band in my account…i bet theres tons of fans in america. how come people never mention them here???
