Creedence Clearwater Revival Reissues On the Way

7/30/08, 10:50 am EST

Creedence Clearwater Revival will reissue their first six albums on September 30th, with each album digitally remastered and stocked with bonus tracks. Concord Music Group will release the reissues after buying back the CCR discography in 2004. The albums getting the deluxe tribute are Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bayou Country, Green River, Willy & The Poor Boys, Cosmo’s Factory and Pendulum. The six albums were recorded in the span of three years, from 1968 to 1970, marking one of the most impressive and prolific stretches for any band of the era. Among the highlights of the bonus material include an alternate version of “Down on the Corner” (on Willy) and a “Born on the Bayou” recorded with CCR and Booker T. & the MGs (on Cosmo.)

Weren’t these already remastered and reissued once a few years ago?

Is Fogerty going to get paid for this? He better.

MikeZ. | 7/30/2008, 3:10 pm EST

I HAD ALWAYS READ THAT FOGERTY ERASED EVERYTHING AT THE END OF A SESSION, THEREFORE NO “PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED” MATERIAL…WHAT’S THE TRUTH ?

god | 7/30/2008, 3:56 pm EST

Yes, some of these were released in the quickly forgotten HDCD format, or was it the SUPER-Audio thing?..anyway, this will be the
6-pack that COUNTS, Chocula!

They came out with a wonderful aix CD set a few years back which includes everything(?) they recorded as a band. It’s worth owning for the pre-Creedence recordings alone. Now they are adding unreleased bonus tracks to the original albums. And I thought I had it all.

god | 7/31/2008, 11:07 pm EST

but JD, they made 7 albums….remember Mardis Gras?

ogod | 7/31/2008, 11:11 pm EST

JD-
so they placed all 7 albums on
6 discs?

the missing piece here is Mardis Gras..the LAST album with those great songs from Stu and Doug…(sarcasm intended)

The box set in question includes a disc’s worth of Pre-Creedence recordings plus the seven albums in their entirety plus their two live albums. All of this fits on six CDs. Hope that clears that up.

So,….when will John Fogerty let it go and perform with the original members of Creedence. Its time to forgive and move on. The Eagles did it. The Allman Brothers did it. I suppose Robbie Robertson should consider it, too. If you look at the YouTube video of Creedence Clearwater Revisited doing Fortunate Son, and then John F. doing his version in concert, I think Revisited’s version is more spirited and better. It’s time they reunited. Thank you very much, Dick Johnson, of Massachusetts.

I bought the original singles, then the albums, then foreign issues of both, then the first CD issues, then the Dunhill 24K gold reissues, then the 20-bit remastered box set…..and now it looks as if I´ll be buying them all again! Ho ho jojoba.
