AC/DC Plan Huge World Tour Following Album Release

7/29/08, 9:02 am EST

At a touring panel yesterday, their management announced that AC/DC are planning on embarking on a massive 18-month world tour starting in October. The trek will be in support of the Aussie hard rockers’ new album, the group’s first since 2000’s Stiff Upper Lip. The will be sold exclusively in the States at Wal-Mart, though it still lacks a definite release date. Expect the first single to be out some time next month. Creative Artists Agency manager partner Rob Light also shed some light on some more huge tours that’ll hit the road in the near future, including Mariah Carey’s “elaborate” shows, Green Day, Depeche Mode, Miley Cyrus, Stevie Wonder and the return of the best tour of 2007. “We have a great idea for KISS to go out and do big arena tour,” Light added. Additionally, other tour promoters said Weezer, the Killers, Journey and Plain White T’s will also head out on extensive jaunts.

AC/DC trying to keep rock alive

bmanfromtheor | 7/29/2008, 10:28 am EST

I had heard reports on a Nashville radio station that ACDC would be hitting the US arena’s in the fall and winter and than come back on a grand scale next summer with Van Halen hitting some larger venues .. for classic rock fans that probably wouldn’t suck too bad??

marttay | 7/29/2008, 11:20 am EST

last time i saw acdc live was in 2001 at milton kyenes bowle, endland. It was my first concert, i was 13y/o, my dad who is the biggest fan (seen them like 15 times) took me. Have seem loads of bands since including download festival 3 times. But still nothing can compare to that 1 ACDC gig. Hope they come to England again, so that i can relive those happy memorys. Think that i will even take my dad. LET THERE BE ROCK!!! CANT WAIT.

Pork Chop | 7/29/2008, 12:53 pm EST

For those about to go to Wal-Mart… Fire! We salute you! (because I won’t be going there to buy their new album)

Dan | 7/29/2008, 2:35 pm EST

What kind of asshole-filled band releases a Wal-Mart only album?

Smashing Pumpkins (All assholes)

The Eagles (All assholes)

AC/DC (Apparently all assholes)

To answer my own question: washed up, half-talented losers. I cannot even begin to imagine the type of band that would kowtow to some committee of Wal-Mart and label execs. It’s shameful. I will never enjoy any of their songs because they’re pathetic money grubbing corporate cross-promotional cogs. It’s fucking music, not a box of tide.

LizzieLover | 7/29/2008, 2:57 pm EST

whatever Wal-Mart. Screw you, I’m not going to walk into your hick filled stores and buy the new AC/DC album. I can find it somewhere else if I really need to. Truly though, with the band and everything, I’m just happy that they’re still playing and not holed up in some shack in Australia waiting for dimensia to kick in. Keep going guys! everyone still looks up to you. :]

Old Mule | 7/29/2008, 3:14 pm EST

Idealism is so cute and endearing when you’re young. Not that practical when you gotta make a living – just ask all us old hippies. AC/DC has new album? Wal-Mart – damn you, but here I come!

lee | 7/29/2008, 3:30 pm EST

get a grip, who cares where its sold , a new album and world tour is the best news i’ve heard in years , true rock legends back at last.

Rusty | 7/29/2008, 4:28 pm EST

Kudos to Wal Mart for having the balls to support AC/DC.

Seems like where AC/DC’s target audience shops anyway.

You think AC/DC fans go to fucking Target to shop?

Bwhahahahahahah!!!

dogan_wolf | 7/29/2008, 8:48 pm EST

I am so happy!!! The last time I ever had a chance to go to AC/DC I was in high school in Thompson Falls Montana. I was 17 yrs old. My parents said I was to young to travel to Seattle by my self. That was 1996. Thank you AC/DC!

SonkLonk | 7/29/2008, 10:53 pm EST

AC/DC greatest band ever. I can’t wait for the new album. Who cares where it is sold I would buy it at the supermarket if that was the only place to buy it. AC/DC RULZ.

Zombie | 7/29/2008, 11:10 pm EST

The truth is, the new album will not only be available through Wal-Mart. It will also be sold at the ONLY PLACE a fan should buy a new album, the ONE PLACE where your money will go to support the artist and not the record label: The merch table at the live show.

FuckYou | 7/30/2008, 7:36 am EST

Let there be rock

Jungleland | 7/30/2008, 8:05 am EST

If you don’t like Wal Mart, then buy it on ebay or amazon – or at your local indie store. they will all send people out to Wal-Mart for CDs and then RESELL them for $4 over the Wal-Mart price (which is more than most indies make on a CD anyway) Happened with The Eagles, remember? It was on Amazon and Ebay the day it came out.

And AC/DC rule!

Rotgut | 7/30/2008, 12:27 pm EST

The new album is reportedly the best since Razor’s Edge, which would be a good thing. They lost that guns-a-blazin’ vibe after Fly On the Wall if you ask me. I love them regardless and I cannot wait to see them live – OMG and holee $#it!!!

Jared | 7/30/2008, 7:58 pm EST

I’m not going to give any of my money to Wal-Mart. I won’t feel bad illegally downloading this one.

When legends.... | 7/31/2008, 12:56 pm EST

…come out with new material and tour, it’s awesome. I don’t care how good or bad the new material is, they are doin what made tehm legendary.

tbone | 8/1/2008, 2:00 pm EST

THis is great news…..the album was long due….

Amazing.

Professional Woman | 8/3/2008, 8:41 pm EST

Hello, this 49-year-old professional woman shops at Target and many higher end shops, and will bust her a$$ to get to Wal-Mart and buy the new CD if that’s the only place it’s sold. Last time I saw them was in 2001 here in Madison, WI and I’m definitely hot to trot to see them again!! Long Live Rock, cause Money Talks and I’ll be Thunderstruck!!

Martin K | 8/4/2008, 4:48 am EST

AC/DC is the best rock and roll band ever and I will gladly buy it at the store that always saves me money. all you people that knock walmart must shop at KMart the store for losers :) :):):)and I have seen then 5 times and hope to see then on this tour also.

me-not-u | 8/4/2008, 10:32 pm EST

AC/DC music will always make me feel young. Now that I’m gettin’ older, little things like exclusivity to Walmart pisses me off. I hate Walmart cuz I pity the slaves that work there. Underpaid, harrassed, and disrespected! If they would UNIONIZE, the workers could labor w/dignity while the deadweight corp. crap mngmnt kisses their own asses goodbye! I will get the new AC/DC cd, but NOT at Slavemart.

ChrissyB | 8/7/2008, 7:07 pm EST

AWESOME…..I can’t wait ACDC rocks and it will be a hell of a show….. Rock On ;)

Alison | 8/12/2008, 11:05 am EST

Anybody got any idea when tickets are going on sale or if there coming to Canada? Cheers.

night hawk | 8/13/2008, 10:40 am EST

i never thought id see the day when id be goin to an acdc concert!!! ive always thought theyd be retired by now but i finally have the chance to go see the greatest rock band ever to exist!!!

Matt | 8/14/2008, 6:05 am EST

Who cares where the cd is sold, you should be complaining about ticketmaster or live nation on how they rip you off on conveince charge on the concert ticket!Believe AC/DC does not need Walmart to sell the cd’s, Walmart needs them!

Lambo | 8/18/2008, 8:35 pm EST

In 78&79 I got to see them with Bon Scott and still have the pictures of me in my Highway To Hell T to prove it. Yes I Will be seeing you you again Angus, Probably won’t be as nuts as I was 30 yrs ago,my head isn’t hinged like it use to be. So glad you’re touring again.

Hoppies | 8/19/2008, 6:46 am EST

Why do you want to make everything so fucking complicated? It’s a cd from the best Rock ‘n Roll band in the world, gou buy it where ever you can! I’m South African and we will at best get the cd a few months later. I will drive to Zimbabwe to get the cd! You spoild Americans complain about buying the cd from Wall Mart? Think you need a few more “real” problems of your own. Go AC/DC can’t wait for the new Album!!!

crazy121564 | 8/22/2008, 5:46 pm EST

WOWO I LOVE ACDC…I’M A 43 YR OLD GRANDMA AND STILL ROCK & ROLL…I SEE THE 3RD TRACK IS CALLED…BIG JACK…WOW REALLY COOL JUST THAT ALONE MAKES BUY THE CD. Anonymous | 8/24/2008, 2:05 pm EST

Man I just paid $50.68 for a Billy Idol ticket that cost $39.00 I am so sick of all these damn convience charges, facility charges, then they hit you with a order processing fee. This is pure american greed!!! But I still will pay to see AC/DC they kick ass. I paid $18.50 to see them back in 88! This time it will cost me well over $200 because we’ll be taking our 2 boys 15 & 18 with us because you have not seen a real show until you see Angus KICK ASS!!!!

Carlos Passos | 8/24/2008, 4:20 pm EST

….please, please put Portugal on your Worl Tour….AC/DC for ever!

jmeonrmedic | 8/25/2008, 11:04 pm EST

Listen people, AC/DC is the greatest rock band in the world. They are not dealing with Walmart for the money. If you knew anything about them at all you would know they do not believe in screwing their customers. Hence never making a “greatest hits” because they dont believe in making people pay for the same music twice!! Get real, they rule and are finally back with new music and I for one will walk to the ends of the earth to get their new album even if its Walmart!!!

braclo 93 | 8/26/2008, 2:51 pm EST

Wal-Mart only?
That’s just fucking stupid. I like Ac/Dc a lot. But If there selling the CD only at wal-mart. Than the CD is probably gonna suck.
Honestly…

rocknrollmama | 8/26/2008, 10:12 pm EST

So glad they’re getting out on tour. Where have they been?!! If Mick and the boys can get around, so can Ac/Dc!! Rock ‘n roll!! The older the better!!
Also, can some of you please learn how to spell CONVENIENCE as in the pesky CONVENIENCE charges for tickets? Convenience is the noun, and convenient is the adjective… as in… it is NOT CONVENIENT to my pocketbook to pay those rotten CONVENIENCE charges.

I can’t wait for them to come around again!!! I saw them 1990. Then was supposed to see them 2000 in NYC @ MSG but got arrested before the show. I asked the cop “how long is this gonna take, i got tix for AC/DC?” He said “YOU’RE GOING TO JAIL HONEY!” i was so mad to miss the show. I asked my friend who was in the holding cell next to me and said “Stanley, what song you think they’re playing?” He said “Probably Jailbreak”!
YES AC/DC THE BEST BAND EVER. LONG LIVE AC/DC!!!!!!!

Joanamamma | 8/27/2008, 11:19 am EST
