The New Issue of Rolling Stone: The Jonas Brothers

7/23/08, 7:30 am EST

Rock’s biggest teen heartthrobs have hit the cover of Rolling Stone. The Jonas Brothers may have been supported by the Disney machine, but that doesn’t mean they don’t know how to rock. Click below for a photo gallery, behind the scenes video from the cover shoot and an excerpt from the feature story about the Jonas Brothers.

Rolling stone use to embody the thoughts of the guy who just dove off the amp stand into the crowd.

For example: Look at the old cover at the bottom of the page. George Bush riding a dead elephant; this is the usual line Rolling Stone toes. Even other covers of pop icons like britney spears have alluded to deeper and darker themes.

I get it the jonas brothers are cute, they are pretty. But has this really ever been the point of Rolling Stone? Their are plenty of other outlets where these features are the perogative. Let the Jonas Brothers stay in these.

mike | 8/22/2008, 2:57 pm EST

looking at this cover i hav come to this conclusion

rolling stones = feeds the masses. does not hav any respect for better musicians out there

i cant believe that once a great magazine will do anything for profit rather than respect for the music industry and better artists that are out there

isabella rowe | 8/18/2008, 8:04 am EST

Carly | 8/11/2008, 11:19 pm EST

Nick is such a cutie, i love the songs that he writes on his own. As for Joe he is the hottest thing ever omj. i love him. hes funny, can sing, gettin buff, and he is so hot. im glad they made rolling stone, now may be people can take them more seriously.

Carly | 8/11/2008, 11:16 pm EST

The Jonas Brothers are a really good band for there age. You’ve got to give them credit for how young they are. They deserve this because they work really hard to be hardworking dedicated gentlemen in the music business. I hope they last longer than those stupid old boy bands, they r so much better. Nick u r so awesome and inspiring with ur lyrics ur so cute. and Joe i always loved what a comedian u are and your voice wow….this is one of the hottest pictures of u ever kevin thanks for pullin his shirt that looks so hottt. theyre getting buff, look at his chest muscles, ahhhh. i love joe jonas. jobros rock.

Carly | 8/11/2008, 11:10 pm EST

bethany is right, the jonas brothers in a way are getting a negative effect for being with disney because its then hard to take them seriously as a real band. i believe they are talented and people need to take them seriously because thats what they want. they want to be looked at as mature young men in a clean band. we should be happy that there are good men like them in the music industry. they are not like the backstreet boys or n-sync they r a real band that write there own music. dont hate on them they deserve this they r huge now. and TatorTot they definetly are cute, nick (right) is so cute, but joe (middle) is so dreamy and hot. hes always been my favorite jobro.

someone | 8/8/2008, 6:26 pm EST

omg this cover is hottttt. i love joe, and anyone that thinks their un talented u can go die.

Jennifer | 7/31/2008, 7:34 pm EST

album called “feed the animals.”
just wanting to let you know,
hey, im here.

Braley | 7/28/2008, 9:33 pm EST

omgomgomg i love you jonas brothers
you so deserve the cover
so buying this issue =]
love this pic :)

Tori | 7/28/2008, 9:00 pm EST

The choice wasn’t yours and you can’t change it now, leave it alone. You act all astonished that they put them on the cover, but not when they put Billie Joe and Amy Winehouse on it. Bad choices there but you don’t see people freaking out about that. Zac Efron was on the cover too, last August. The Jonas Brothers are way better than Zac Efron.
Besides, Its not really about them being good or not, its about what will make them money.
By the way, I like the Jonas Brothers alot and I find them un-defyingly attractive, but even if I didn’t it wouldn’t change my opinion about them being on the cover.

Amanda | 7/28/2008, 7:52 pm EST

This is amazing [: I’m so proud of them. For all they’ve done and everything they’ve accomplished. And yeah seriously, if you don’t like them. DON’T BUY THE MAGAZINE. THEY DESERVE TO BE ON THE COVER. For you people who say they “don’t deserve the cover” and all that stuff, you obviously know NOTHING about these boys. They’ve been through so much and are reaching for their goals. Putting a smile on their fans faces is their #1 goal. It’s not just for their own benefit, they do what they love to do for their FANS. And no I’m not some 8 year old. So back off and leave these boys alone.

Odelayer | 7/27/2008, 10:38 am EST

This is an all-time low for rolling stone… its like finding elvis’ fat ass dead on the toilet

a person | 7/26/2008, 9:53 am EST

The Jonas Brothers are very talented. They are very good role models to. I really do think Disney has messed them up a bit, but I understand maybe that is just to start there career. Only thing I don’t get is if they say they Christian why don’t they try doing a couple Christian songs. Maybe its not what the world wants but I’m sure it would be good

Alicia | 7/25/2008, 11:52 am EST

eh…don’t like them too much

Bull3t | 7/24/2008, 6:44 pm EST

This isn’t that hard people.
If you like them, buy the magazine.
If you dont, don’t buy the magazine.
If you think the picture looks like hell, dont spend hours critiquing it, just hit the red x.
I swear, you people go out of your way just to start an argument.
I can’t possibly understand how this is hurting you.

Wilhelm Von Max | 7/24/2008, 4:33 pm EST

Hey, RS! Why not Donny and Marie on the cover? They have a big show going on in Vegas. I do believe I have finally reached hell. What was once the top, I mean the absolute epitome of rock and roll is now nothing more than a grown up Tiger Beat. I’d say “Keep on Rockin” but with your current choices, that is just a hollow euphamism now. Mmm Bop boys, Mmm Bop.

Emily | 7/24/2008, 4:01 pm EST

Guys why don’t you like them? Have you ever really listened to their music and understood the lyrics? The songs like “Year 3000″ and “Kids Of The Future” don’t count because those are covers. So if those are the only songs you’ve heard by them then obviously you’d think they don’t deserves this. If you actually listen to their newer and more mature music, you’d understand why everyone loves them. Their music MEANS something. Not like those rappers out there who write pointless songs. Jonas Brothers write about real true life experiences. They have an amazingly huge number of fans. A number of fans that a band hasn’t had in quite some time now. People have opinions which is fine, but that just means they have no feelings and don’t like when people write about their feelings. I know I go through the same stuff they do, so I can relate. You must not have a life if you don’t go through these emotions that they do. Listen to “A Little Bit Longer” And you could possibly change your mind. A few less fans won’t compare to the MILLIONS of fans they already have. Think about Panic! at the Disco. and Soulja Boy. Have they toured internationaly? NO! Jonas Brothers deserves this spot. I think this comment says it all.

Hayleigh | 7/24/2008, 2:38 pm EST

Ok,
so they obviously deserve the cover.
They are like the biggest band in the world right now.
I think its a big step up for them and they deserve to get credit.
Yes i am a Jonas Brothers fan, and im obviously going to agree that the should be on here, but for anyone who has eyes can see that they are taking over.
Its the music that matters, and not that they were on Disney.
This is really great for them and i hope they keep it up!

Kale | 7/24/2008, 1:29 pm EST

You guys have got to be kidding me! Joe looks like a desperate stripper, Nick looks like he got hit in the stomach and is about to hurl and Kevin looks like an evil leprechaun that is really ugly! You guys are saying they look hot? Wake up call! What happened Rolling Stones??? I think the person that took this picture hates them with a passion to put this picture on the front cover of the Rolling Stones! Rolling Stones you made me upset on this one.

tissy | 7/24/2008, 2:08 am EST

yo everyone just chill. they deserve the cover. they ARE really talented.

tijuana bibles | 7/24/2008, 12:11 am EST

What’s next? Miley Cyrus doing Patti Smith covers?

1 issue. thats it | 7/23/2008, 11:44 pm EST

okay its one issue
think of all the girls across America that’ll buy it
that’s a wad of cash
what’s wrong with Disney?
yea I’m talking about that ancient Mickey mouse alarm clock you’ve got sitting in your closet
not to go all therapist
but come on, these guys like alot of amazing bands/artists as well and have a huge respect for them.
elis costello. prince. the bee gees

they’re young too and write their own songs which should get credit

Mooraj! | 7/23/2008, 10:34 pm EST

omg
WOW!
This covers
HOT!!!
=]]
I love you
jonas brothers

Nothingman | 7/23/2008, 10:27 pm EST

This is upsetting for any fan of serious rock music and those searching/waiting for the next big rock music era. Unfortunately MTV is doing no better since they are letting the J Brothers band play their awards show.

STOP HATING JONAS! | 7/23/2008, 9:42 pm EST

ok everyone stop hating on the jonas brother JUST because they were on disney & teens like them. THEY cant help their fan base and disney boosted their career. theyve only been on disney for a few years, so STOP THE HATE just because one band you dont like is on the cover of a magazine. TRUST me you WILL be seeing a lot more of these boys now:)
i love the jonas brothers, they have amazing lyrics and they arent a BOY BAND! they are boys in a band! thats like saying that ANY band that is all boys is a “boy band” So all of you should just GROW UP because this issue will sell A LOT!

Leafvongola | 7/23/2008, 8:18 pm EST

Seriously!? I agree with the others. When was the last time Beck was on the cover? Was he ever on the cover? (That one’s not a rhetorical question, was he?) How about Jack White, who should’ve been on the guitar songs cover, or the Raconteurs, who have been stirring up a storm since their last release?

Are you for real? | 7/23/2008, 7:15 pm EST

How can you go from 100 greatest guitar songs, to coldplay, to Barrack Obama, three great issues i might add, and then make the transition to this crap? Stop putting bubblegum acts and hacks on the cover like the hills bitches and this lame boy band. Why don’t you put someone with talent on the cover, like Beck or John Mellencamp, or Zach De La Rocha for his One Day As A Lion project-all new releases and with lyrical content that matters.

Bethany | 7/23/2008, 6:39 pm EST

i think disney channel has really given these guys a bad reputation for being for little girls. they are actually really talented. but i think they should work on their image for the mainstream music world before being on the cover of rolling stone. they need to get out of this “young boy band” label. don’t get me wrong, i love the jonas bros., but i just think they need to show the world they really are a serious band.

RS Goes POP | 7/23/2008, 4:56 pm EST

Rock Band and Guitar Hero?
Pick up a real instrument
Jonas Brothers?
Pick up a real artist/band. Beck just dropped something more respectable than this Disney business venture. Even your love of John Mayer could grace the cover with his latest live album. And, actually yes, that does mean they don’t know how to rock.

ju3883 | 7/23/2008, 4:33 pm EST

i thought they were lame, but then i listened to a few songs and watched an interview. they seem pretty cool

Trainwreck | 7/23/2008, 3:39 pm EST

If you’re going to pander to the teenage audience, could you at least put someone on the cover that looks good, say Vanessa Hudgens? She has an album out too and, well, she’s hot.

oh thank God | 7/23/2008, 3:03 pm EST

the ’00s answer to Creed is finally here!

TaterTot | 7/23/2008, 2:27 pm EST

Well, they are awfully cute, and that middle one - just dreamy!

Seth | 7/23/2008, 1:13 pm EST

Thought I was on the Tiger Beat website for a second there. Generic choruses, boy-band vocals–the Jonas Brothers are the biggest poseurs in the business. Isn’t this the same magazine that put John Lennon nude hugging Yoko on their cover?

Little Billy | 7/23/2008, 11:56 am EST

Yaayyy! Jonas Brothers rock! I’m gonna tell all my friends in 5th grade to come on this Rolling Stone website because it has story about the greatest band in the world the Jonas Brothers! This website is cool because it has Jonas Brothers! No more Disney Channel for me. Now I come on Roling Stone website! Yayyyy!

Tom | 7/23/2008, 11:48 am EST

I must have missed the memo that April Fools Day was postponed to July 23rd.

Bogus Issue | 7/23/2008, 11:42 am EST

You guys suck, pandering to the teeny-bopper audience. Is this what Rolling Stone has reduced themselves to?

HCF | 7/23/2008, 9:47 am EST

What did they pay you?
