Dr. Dre Confirms “Detox” Nearly Done, Could Come Later This Year

Dr. Dre’s Detox could be out as soon as this November or December, the rapper/producer told USA Today. Dre’s protégé Snoop Dogg recently said the album was completed, and now the Doctor is confirming the report. “I’m just now — over the last couple of months — starting to feel that it’s going to be right and it’s something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it,” Dr. Dre said. “In a perfect world, I’m shooting for a November or December release.” It’s been nine years since Dre’s second proper solo album 2001. The album will reportedly feature a new crew of musicians, as well as beats via live drums. “We have an entirely new thing going with the drums that’s incredible, and we’re still developing that,” Dre said. Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z and Nas are all expected to make guest appearances. Detox may be Dre’s swan song, however, as the producer said “I’m going to put this record out, promote it, tour and then become a hermit. I’m going to stay in the studio and produce.”

No rap is better than old school! It’s all the same nothing new under the sun, meaningless. Rap use to be fun and every year since 1979 I was more and more excited with the development of the art. NOW! It’s all the same rhymes twisted around. I like some new rap. But I still listen to my old school, like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, LL, BDP, P.E. and the group that changed my whole view of the rap game De La Soul and the native tongue. But when Dr. Dre made The Chronic I was blown away. I was living in L.A. at the time. With all that was going on in L.A. I was proud to be a part of that history. Still being a native New Yorker I felt I was trading teams. The Chronic was so hot that New York City was consumed as well so I didn’t feel so bad anymore. 25 years of LL Cool J still doin it, Tupac, Snoop, Biggie, and Jay-Z. They are the last of the original style rappers. Everyone else are just really good copies. Taking nothing away from any artist, if you can rap God bless you and good luck cause I can’t do it. Just think Dre wasn’t even suppose to rap he just does it all. With money coming in from everywhere you can wait 9 years for perfection.

It’s been a long time coming and the Doc wanted the magic full on!
The tragic death of his son may just be the undoing of it’s release.
We’re with you Doc…..let this album be the one that honours your boys life…..respect!

There’s something hilariously ironic about how using real drums is “entirely new” and “incredible.”

Hey Robin, re-read the article again and know that they’re doing something that hasn’t been done in hip-hop since maybe never: rap via live drums. Listen to Bob Marley in `No Woman No Cry` and think about it. Lil Wayne got hip-hop in a choke hold, but that doesn’t mean that the greatest producer, who’ve produced for the real G. O. A. T. And is one of only a handful of brothers in the game that have inside info about the most media hyped beef ever. We’ve waited this long for it and have been patient for this long, lets just wait for the holiday season release. It’ll probably clean house at the next grammys.

No more bluffing!!!!! Ever since I fell in love with eminem from “the marshall mathers lp” I became obsessed with rap, tupac, nas, jay z, and his protege’s 50 Cent and D 12. But no album has been bumped in my house car and at party’s like 2001. Doctor Dre’s just stalling cuz he’s scared of the competition because of lil wayne and a grammy win. But REALLY!!! Release the damn album, everyones rooting for it, and lil wayne has nothing on the Godfather of rap.
