Nas to Protest at “Racist” Fox’s Studios

7/22/08, 2:35 pm EST

Nas‘ hatred for television giant Fox has been well-publicized. He doesn’t have a problem with The Moment of Truth, rather the rapper has issues with the conservative and “racist” leanings interlaced with their news reports, as evidenced by his penning the song “Sly Fox,” off Untitled, as a protest rally against the broadcasters. Now, Nas is turning his words into action as he’ll join ColorOfChange.org and MoveOn.org in delivering a 600,000-signature petition to the channel’s Manhattan studios tomorrow afternoon. The petition demands that Fox “end its pattern of racist attacks against Black Americans including presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.” Among the memorable comments Fox allegedly made about Obama is an incident where they called the Democratic candidate’s wife “Obama’s Baby Mama,” “confused” Obama with Osama and called a loving fist bump between Barack and Michelle a “terrorist fist jab.” Then there’s the always-quotable host Bill O’Reilly, who said a “lynching party” had to be deployed to deal with Michelle Obama. “Fox poisons the country with racist propaganda and tries to call it news,” Nas diplomatically said in a statement. Nas and reps from the two groups will deliver the petition to FOX’s studios tomorrow at 2pm EST.

Nas is an idiot, and unfortunately a well known idiot.. How can he call anyone a racist with the name he tried to put on his most recent album.. also, how many racist references are in his music.. Listening to him talk about racism is like listening to Paris Hilton talk about the importance of wearing underwear.

The truth is, Anything negative said about Barak Hussain Obama or his wife is immediately claimed as racist.. Should have figured the race card would be played every chance they got.. Yet anything said about mccain is fair game..

nasir is his name | 7/24/2008, 12:17 am EST

this dude has an arabic name, blames israel for the weapons in his neighborhood, studied the koran, dropped out of school in 8th grade, has a weapons charge, and glamorizes violence… no wonder he supports obama.

racists like this guy & rev. wright are the best thing for the GOP… but at least hes getting exposure for his new album!

DUDES!!!! ITS ALL THE MEDIA!!!! None of it is presented straightforward. It’s all got a slant to it and usually it benefits the person with the moolah. Fox is not special. They are part of a corrupt media that exacerbates problems and exploits the people of this country for financial gain and extended control over the majority.

People please wake up this is just not about Obama, Fox news has been doing this thing for years were just now calling them on it because enough is enough. There shows are meant to scare white people like blacks are the most evil people. Please watch Black in America on CNN.

nas is an ignorant buffoon first of all for finger-pointing and calling people racist.

it’s idiots like this that will help mc same get into office.

FOX is raciest, from the baby mama, to he is exotic, he is not real American—etc. comments, very hard to track to every slime they throw our way, but wait a minute we are the one who were terrorized, tortured, treated in humanly, beaten and steal being beat by the system and they want to be angry? I know for sure FOX is a raciest TV, in fact I saw a student in CSUF wearing a T-shirt saying Fox TV is racist, and I will get one too to spread the message in addition to my boy caught of any fox TV or news paper or movies—etc. to telling friends and family quitting fox.

Thanks for deleting my post Rolling Stone. I’m sure that Fox News gives a flying fcuk what little Nasir Jones thinks about their reporting. Kenny you are right on the money. If Obama gets elected president, anyone that disagrees with or criticizes him will be labeled a racist by numbnuts like Nas.

Manko | 7/22/2008, 11:24 pm EST

I think more context for the quotes need to be given. Calling her Obama’s ‘baby mama’ seems harmless. So, what, MAYBE the term originates from Ebonics. How is that rascist?

I fail to see racial hatred or intolerance in any of this, but again, maybe it would be more clear if I saw clips.

Hypocrite | 7/22/2008, 10:53 pm EST

You know, personally speaking, I generally hate the bigotry that Fox News normally spews out as well. However, for Nas, I’m gonna have to call bullshit on this one. Wasn’t his most recent album tentatively titled “Nigger.” …And he is calling Fox News racist?

Nas, if you’re going to accuse someone or something of being racist, then you better be damn sure that you have a racist-free recored as well. Otherwise, you’re a hypocrite.

Also, I don’t care if you are black, white or even green, the N-word is an inappropriate word for ANYONE to use…one black person saying it to another black person still doesn’t make that word acceptable.

Libs are mostly made up of minorities and various social misfits, angry outcasts, losers, and wannabes. It’s their nature to complain. Lord knows that there are a dozen liberal news outlets for every Fox-like conservative outlet. But they can’t stand any voice in opposition to their own. And as for Osama Obama, I think Jesse finally had a good idea.

Rios | 7/22/2008, 8:16 pm EST

I have to agree. You can say something about someone without making it a racist comment. Why does Michelle Obama have to be a baby mama instead of saying who she is, The wife of Barack.I’m actually glad that Nas is voicing his opinion on the matter. He’s not a major pollitical figure but maybe he is good enough to help both these organizations accomplish what they are after

Nate | 7/22/2008, 8:12 pm EST

If that’s what he wants to do with his time, who cares. There’s always someone to attack for something. If I had more time, I would be working on writing my music.

phil | 7/22/2008, 7:26 pm EST

Yeah kenny, because all those other news agencies are sooo left leaning. Give me a break. Conservatism shouldnt be the same as ignorance, but in America that is what it has become. Nas may not be the most diplomatic guy, but at least he’s no idiot.

Nick | 7/22/2008, 5:26 pm EST

To Kenny..

I think the quotes that were taken from FOX are definitely racist. There’s a difference between being negative and saying racist remarks.

Mario Kart | 7/22/2008, 5:07 pm EST

This will end well

Tom | 7/22/2008, 4:55 pm EST

Nas is a moron

Kenny | 7/22/2008, 4:48 pm EST

Wow. This is one of the funniest news stubs I have ever seen. It’s just like liberal left leaning celebrities to challenge a conservative voice in America. Maybe some conservatives should petition MSNBC or CNN or NBC or CBS. Always trying to quiet a voice that goes against theirs. You can’t say anything negative about Obama without being called a racist.
