Readers’ Rock List: Fictional Bands

7/21/08, 3:37 pm EST

Last week, we asked our readers to tell us their favorite fictional band. We’ve tallied the votes, and Spinal Tap and all eight of their deceased drummers was named the best fake band, edging a bunch of 80s bands, a pair of groups invented by Cameron Crowe, wannabe Beatles and acts fronted by Brendan Fraser and Jack White. Check out the full list below:

1. Spinal Tap (This Is Spinal Tap)
2. Wyld Stallyns (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure)
3. The Commitments (The Commitments)
4. Stillwater (Almost Famous)
5. The Oneders/The Wonders (That Thing You Do!)
6. Steel Dragon (Rock Star)
7. The Rutles (All You Need Is Cash)
8. Citizen Dick (Singles)
9. The Lone Rangers (Airheads)
10. Barry Jive and the Uptown Five (High Fidelity)
