Janet Jackson Super Bowl Flash Fine Tossed

7/21/08, 1:51 pm EST

More than four years after a wardrobe malfunction allowed a Super Bowl audience of 90 million people to see Janet Jackson’s breast, the $550,000 indecency fine levied against CBS for the incident has been thrown out, a court ruled today. The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the FCC “acted arbitrarily and capriciously” when issuing the fine on CBS for what was an accidental, split-second flash of nudity. The “malfunction” was almost perfectly synchronized with Justin Timberlake singing the line “Gonna have you naked by the end of this song” (”this song” being “Rock Your Body”) performed during the Super Bowl intermission. The incident led to an almost-censorship of live events, with tape delays becoming the norm to avoid future unscripted situations.

People are such hypocrits, Madonna kissed Britney Spears full on French kiss, on TV, the Grammy’s nobody said one word. So you saw a smidgen of a Black Woman’s Breast. Whats wrong it reminded you of all of the malfeasions of, “Winches Row” and how intrigued Slave Masters were with Slave women who looked like Janet? Oops that right, we are not suppose to mention Slavery!!!!!!!

As far as I’m concrened, it’s a bad decision. I’m tired of TV shows getting progressively more lax about sexually oriented language and themes. I don’t think kids should be exposed to this stuff. It leads them to too casual of an approach to under-age sex and all of the issues that go along with it such as teen pregnancy, diseases and so forth. This kind of stuff turns people into lazy attitudes involving respect and common decency. I’m not a prude, but I don’t think TV is a place for any of this. Keep it in PG or R-rated movies or pay-TV.

Great. | 7/21/2008, 5:15 pm EST

I felt so much better about life when I thought the FCC had taken charge and stopped this kind of unnecessary boob-age from ever crossing my line of sight again.

Now I may be forced to see a tit again before I die, because the liberal activist courts have politicised mammaries. Thanks Obama.

What?! Common sense? Holy crap. OK, so I’m sure this will be appealed by someone, right?

Still, good decision.
