Britney Spears Working on New Album, Says Manager

7/16/08, 2:08 pm EST

Britney Spears is spending her summer vacation in a recording studio working on the follow-up to last year’s Blackout, her reps say. According to her manager Larry Rudolph, with whom Spears reunited with after Blackout sales lagged, Britney is “working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters. We’re very excited about what she’s accomplished so far.” Sean Garrett, one of the producers on Spears’ new disc, tells EW.com, “We’re trying to take her stuff to the next level. I’m going to come up with something crazy for her.” Other producers expected to be working with Spears are JR Rotem, Guy Sigsworth, Bloodshy & Avant and Danjahandz (who also significantly contributed to Blackout).

There is always a certain level of jealousy (haters) when you become the brand that Britney has become. Her career (and yes at 26 it has been a 20 year career - name many acts with that longevity, besides the Stones). Britney to this day - even with her current album about to go platinum US (and twice as many around the world) is n “earner” - she make more than Justin, Kanye, and about any other “record” only artist out there right now. Imagine literally no marketing and promotion spend on a record that globally sold 3 million units?! She is still the center of the entertaiment world - like her or hate her (and Britney love, there are many more that love you and want to see you back in action soon!). Even Rolling Stone, which ran your cover to up its street sales several times when things were good - ran it again when things were “bad” by a writer whom had NO CLUE about what was really going on - and full of faulty information - again, to SELL its rag - will be the first one trying to line up to get the “next level” story. Britney sells people. She is, like it or not, Americana now. We all care to some extent about her personally and musically. I wish her all the best!

Her last album was amazing. It was totally what today’s music is about. She’s had her problems, but she’s recovering. I just hope she get her looks back and she’ll be the total package and queen of pop again. BRITNEY FOR PRESIDENT.

Mikel Monroe | 7/17/2008, 8:26 am EST

Whatever it is she does she will always make an impact somehow and somewhere, good or bad, she’s just the “Princess of Pop”, and nothing is ever changing that. We the people and the media made her what she is today. Don’t try and bring her down when you most likely contributed to her success.

haha teen pop

Genesis | 7/16/2008, 10:12 pm EST

Haters, Britney is gonna kick ass with this next album. And who says you have to write your own music to be talented………hello Celine.

t | 7/16/2008, 9:50 pm EST

“haters” of awful and annoying music sound like normal people to me, eric

t | 7/16/2008, 9:45 pm EST

better she’s in the studio than behind the wheel

devin | 7/16/2008, 9:43 pm EST

its funny because her last album was her worst financially but her best musically. i credit this to her producers, especially Danjah. the beat for gimme more is off the hook. anybody could have sang that and it would have been a hit.

J | 7/16/2008, 7:28 pm EST

I’d love to hear a producer say something about taking the new record to a “much lower level.”

Seriously, can someone pull a report together for how many “levels” all Britney Spears’ records have surpassed? She should try Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start. It worked for Contra.

Dj | 7/16/2008, 7:24 pm EST

Talentless hack.

GOO GOO GA GA | 7/16/2008, 5:16 pm EST

Gimme More=not a bad song.

Better Than She Used To Be? | 7/16/2008, 4:37 pm EST

Actually, Spears’ latest Album isn’t half bad. It’s no worse than the trite, pop crap she used to produce 6 or 7 years ago. I would much rather hear something along the lines of “Gimme More” rather than the eye-roll inducing “Lucky” or “Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman.”

z | 7/16/2008, 4:14 pm EST

Hey Sean Garrett!

Doesn’t look like Britney needs help in the crazy department! Or have you just not been paying attention? She’s a big girl and can do crazy all by herself, obviously.

Sludge | 7/16/2008, 4:13 pm EST

What is the next level above crap?

Eric | 7/16/2008, 4:11 pm EST

Ya’ll r just haters.

Go Britney!!

Chops | 7/16/2008, 2:25 pm EST

“We’re trying to take her stuff to the next level. I’m going to come up with something crazy for her.”

Does that mean Britney Spears will actually sing and write her own lyrics on her new album?

The Graveyard | 7/16/2008, 2:22 pm EST

So other people write and produce all her material - why don’t they get someone else to sing for her, too?
Her voice isn’t that appealing.

She could just show up for the video shoot and everybody would be happy. Or, better yet, you could just get someone hotter then Britney to play her in the video to make it even better!
