New Guns n’ Roses Song Premiering on “Rock Band 2″

7/14/08, 9:00 am EST

A brand new Guns n’ Roses song will make its debut via Rock Band 2, the sequel to the hit video game that allows players to contribute their own guitar, bass, drums and vocals to hit rock songs. “Shackler’s Revenge,” a new track from Chinese Democracy (though not included with the recently-leaked supposedly finished tracks), will get its world premiere via the game, also suggesting that an autumn release for Chinese Democracy is inevitable. Rock Band 2, developed by Harmonix and distributed by MTV Games, will also feature songs from Rush and AC/DC, and according to a track list leaked last week may also include songs from Elvis Costello and Bob Dylan.

Hi webmaster!

Kevin | 7/16/2008, 8:47 pm EST

guns n’ roses..hmm..bad songs by a weak band.

Steve | 7/16/2008, 6:48 pm EST

Just for the record I was completley 100% joking about the GNR reunion. This whole thing is turning into a goddamn soap opera. Honestly who in the hell even cares anymore. There’s too much good music out there to give two…

Joe | 7/16/2008, 3:30 pm EST

This is OFFICIAL and it GOING TO HAPPEN. That’s the difference between this and everything else we’ve heard about new GNR over the last 10 years.

Benny | 7/16/2008, 3:09 pm EST

The new songs sound different than the old GNR, but cut that mullet, it’s 2008.

Just because it’s “different” doesn’t mean that it’s bad.

And in most cases, it’s very very good.

Cal | 7/16/2008, 12:59 pm EST

VR is done with don’t wanna hear anymore from them. Guns N’ Roses is ten times better than VR and I got news for ya PEOPLE WILL KNOW THE NAMES OF Robin Finck, Richard Fortus, Bumblefoot,Tommy Stinson, Brain, Chris Pitman. Axl, Dizzy, the more well known names Chinese Democracy STARTS NOW !!!

AC/DC??? | 7/16/2008, 10:20 am EST

Ac/Dc NEVER shares songs, I doubt they’ll put one in a video game!

duga | 7/16/2008, 8:00 am EST

Ben who?

Some Guy | 7/16/2008, 6:38 am EST

I have it on good authority that the next singer for Velvet Revolver is Ben Vereen.

O&A Fan...Duff Interview | 7/16/2008, 3:03 am EST

If you have XM or have heard anything about what is going on, VR are still working and planning a new album with a new singer. He lives in NY. (But not from NY) On top of this, Duff’s side project Loaded came out with some new tracks for free and Duff is working with Dave from POT USA to push hard on Nutsie.com, a free streaming radio site that uses your iTunes to create your online library. Unless Duff was completely full of S**T, Duff sees this as something down the road, not this year and if Axl wants a new CD out this year, he can’t reform with the originals…good guess seems 2010…but that is only a guess…Rob

gnrfan | 7/16/2008, 12:05 am EST

i love how people post such bullshit, pretending to actually be insiders and know something.

they haven’t heard the song, and there is no GNR reunion ‘going through the legalities’.

tisk tisk children.

Cal | 7/16/2008, 12:05 am EST

Don’t worry this guy is a attention getter he hasn’t heard it !! he has no proof.

benny | 7/15/2008, 11:53 pm EST

If you heard the song upload it to MegaUpload and the post it here or at ChineseDemocracy dot com.

bluto | 7/15/2008, 10:58 pm EST

U heard the song? BS !

oh lordy | 7/15/2008, 4:03 pm EST

this is gonna b huge. heard the song. its better than welcome to the jungle.

Steve | 7/15/2008, 2:37 pm EST

It’s official! GNR are reforming. Axl and Slash are in talks and going through all the legalites right now. That’s why it’s taking so long. They are also in the process of re-cutting all the tracks with Slash on guitar.

fred | 7/15/2008, 11:54 am EST

Im anticipating some great buckethead guitar work on this track

matt | 7/15/2008, 8:09 am EST

chinese democracy!!!

Andrew the English bloke | 7/15/2008, 5:30 am EST

Who knows, maybe we wont all be living in another galaxy when ChDem is released……
…..bring back ELO, at least they were reliable!

Chuck | 7/15/2008, 1:28 am EST

I enjoyed about half of the leaks, as some were great modern rock (Better, Rhiad, and the untitled power ballad) and would be a nice kick in the arse to the poor crop of “butt-rock” and emo-copycats in rotation today. However, songs like There Was A Time, IRS and The Blues were just god awful, though…millions of dollars cannot polish these turds!

Hopefully, “Shackler’s Revenge,” as cheesy as the title sounds, falls into the former category. Looking forward to hearing the song…

Benny | 7/14/2008, 11:27 pm EST

AC/DC - Black Ice
Guns N’ Roses - Chinese Democracy
Metallica - Death Magnetic

I’ll take that and smoke it any day…

someone who gives a shit | 7/14/2008, 11:15 pm EST

by now, we all know the quality of musicians in the band. Sure, strung out dope fiends can make a certain sound, but that sound is limited. The 9 leaks heard so far are all over the place, without sounding desperate. They sound mature but still bite with emotion. They are not raw, but channeled emotions. These songs shouldn’t be judged by the money spent or time consumed who gives a fuck about that that. They passion that is channeled is the gauge that this album should be measured by. Listen to it. It is all emotion and passion and integrity. And genius from all who contributed, not just Axl. There is Buckethead, Bumblefoot, Fortus Finck, Brain, Stinson, Dizzy, Pittman, Frank, and all the composers and producers, this is a collaboration. Who knows, there may be parts with some of the original guys, maybe not who cares, we will hear new music this year from great musicians.

Leonardo | 7/14/2008, 9:43 pm EST

Who cares about how long it took him to record it or how much he spent? It is his time and his money in the end…
I’ve heard the new songs and they sound better than 99,99% of the crap that is out there.
At least he had the balls to try something new, (look at Slash and his Velvet Revolver fiasco).
It took 13 years and no one had the capacity/talent to replace him.
Axl is gifted and talented and is one of the best artists of all time.

KM | 7/14/2008, 9:17 pm EST

It is announced today at E3. Rock Band also Has AC/DC and Dylan while Guitar Hero’s Got Metallica and Van Halen

ron | 7/14/2008, 7:13 pm EST

Rock needs a good swift kick in the ass and hopefully this will be it

ROckerStoned | 7/14/2008, 6:47 pm EST

I’ve heard all the leaks and I love them all. Much better than anything released in the past 4-5 years in hard rock. Someone at RS hates Axl, that’s why he/she has put up this most unflattering picture of him.I saw him in Portland,OR and he looked and sounded great!

OC77 | 7/14/2008, 6:23 pm EST

Huge GNR fan but the tracks that were released weren’t that good. Most are whiney and dated. The song “The blues” sounds like it belongs in the dracula play in “Forgetting Sarah Marashal.” I hope the finished album is better than the leaked tracks, or I hope he doesn’t release it. Everyone who has wanted a shot at Axl will get it.

Rusty | 7/14/2008, 5:31 pm EST

Axl is the Brett Farve of rock!

Cal | 7/14/2008, 5:01 pm EST

I agree they need at current pic of Axl. I’ve been told that schackler is gonna be the shit.

G N Fukin R | 7/14/2008, 5:00 pm EST

I have never once thought about buying Rock band….. But now I want it! Axl is amazing

JP | 7/14/2008, 4:57 pm EST

Count me in as another person who thinks this is another “Oh My God” release. When the Axl Rose Project finally release “Chinese Democracy”, then I’ll believe it.

Can’t wait. Great decision by Axl and Management.

Really looking forward to “Chinese Democracy” and really want to hear ‘Shackler’s Revenge’.

eh | 7/14/2008, 3:34 pm EST

at least it’s NOT another pixies in rock band announcement. (shudder)

Me | 7/14/2008, 3:12 pm EST

In all your archives, you people cannot find a picture less than 6 years old?

The leaks are amazing and if this song was approved to be on Rock Band, it will be amazing too!

Anonymous | 7/14/2008, 3:10 pm EST

Were the supposed “finished leaks” any better than the demos that got leaked two years ago? I remember how awful the demo of the song “Chinese Democracy” was. The opening riff was the corniest thing I’ve heard this decade. Were this newer leaks any better?

Daniel Larusso | 7/14/2008, 2:41 pm EST

sounds promising. the leaked tracks are pretty incredible as well, so if those are any indication, CD should be worth the wait.

Steve | 7/14/2008, 1:51 pm EST

Maybe they’re actually waiting for China to become a democracy before they release it.

none | 7/14/2008, 1:38 pm EST

the 9 songs that leaked are trash, really,

Frank J | 7/14/2008, 1:24 pm EST

Who the hell cares about Gn’R nowadays?. The best thing Axl can do for himself is to hang himself or die in a plane crash. That’s the only way people can admire him in this post-Cobain era.

megatron1 | 7/14/2008, 1:04 pm EST

The game may get the song but we still won’t the album this year

Greg | 7/14/2008, 12:42 pm EST

I hope this song kicks ass and since ive heard it’s a buckethead song i’m assuming the guitarplaying will be exceptional

GNRFan | 7/14/2008, 11:52 am EST

Chinese Democracy will be released this year, trust me. And it WILL be the best selling album of the year.

GNRFan | 7/14/2008, 11:51 am EST

Chinese Democracy will be the best selling CD of the year. Bank on it.

Mandela | 7/14/2008, 11:48 am EST

Fastword 2015: Sources gurantee that the stalling on rock band 2 is finally over and it will be realeased soon. Oh and its probably the greatest game ever, which it needs to be with all the wait. It is being dedicated to the memory of AXL rose who died of a gardening accident five years ago.

Mr. Brownstone | 7/14/2008, 11:42 am EST

It’s time for GNR to return. Rock needs a good kick in the ass, just like it did in the late 80’s when GNR entered the mainstream. I’m getting tired of Coldplay and John Mayer “rock” songs eating up the charts.

fakil | 7/14/2008, 11:40 am EST

i dont care about chinese democracy anymore.

Ali | 7/14/2008, 11:08 am EST

When “Oh My God” was released, there was no confirmation that the record was done. Only speculation. This is supposedly an awesome Buckethead-penned rocker. Can’t wait to see the MTV press release and to hear the song.

Flashback to 1999, End of Days Soundtack has a new GNR song… Album will be out soon…
I got married and divorced since then!
I’ll believe it when I have the CD in my hand!

Marc | 7/14/2008, 11:04 am EST

Remember when “Oh My God” was on the End of Days soundtrack in fall of 1999 and the release of Chinese Democracy was “just on the horizon”??

Charlie | 7/14/2008, 10:50 am EST

Oh no now Rock Band 2 will never come out.

TobyTyler | 7/14/2008, 10:43 am EST

1992 called. It wants
GnR back.

Jesus | 7/14/2008, 10:38 am EST

At this point, who really gives a shit.

tim | 7/14/2008, 10:11 am EST

SOunds great and promising that the album may finally come out soon
