The Who Plot U.S. Fall Tour, Ready for Rock Honors

7/11/08, 11:11 am EST

Despite Roger Daltrey’s longing to hang it up, the Who have announced the beginnings of a U.S. tour in the fall. So far, only a pair of dates have been announced: a two-night run at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre on November 8 and 9. Fan club tickets and VIP packages for those dates go on sale July 14th at the band’s official website. The band also promises more dates will be announced soon. The Who will also take the stage this Saturday night at UCLA’s Pauley Arena for a VH1 Rock Honors special, to air July 17th. Pearl Jam, Flaming Lips, Incubus and Tenacious D will also participate in the event, with each band paying tribute to the Who before Daltrey and Townshend take the stage. Rock Daily will be at this weekend’s event, so check back next week for the full report.

I just saw the Who in Hamilton, ON last week (10/22/08)…a totally awesome show. Roger and Pete and the entire band were right on ! I loved every minute of every song.

It may not be The Who of the 60’s and 70’s, but it’s still Pete and Roger: the main songwriter and the chief vocalist who interprets his songs. If Pino Palladino returns on bass, Zak Starkey plays drums and Rabbit Bundrick handles the keyboards, this is an exciting touring band.

Even if it was Pete sitting on stage with an acoustic guitar and Roger and Pete singing, I’d still pay money to see them perform.

This isn’t The Who. The Who had Moon and Entwistle. This is two senior citizens looking for more Depends money. This is as much The Who as Axl’s Guns N Roses is Guns N’ Roses.

The Who are the only band left that i want to see.
Please just one more tour

I need to see them before pete loses his mind.

Smart move to announce the tour on the heels of the Rock Honors. This worked for Tom Petty and his superbowl apperance.
