Joe Cocker to Headline New Israel Peace Festival

7/11/08, 1:36 pm EST

Joe Cocker has been recruited to headline a new summer festival in Israel. The three-day Gilboa Coexistence Festival, taking place August 26-28, will promote peace between the Jews and Arabs living in the Gilboa section of the Middle Eastern country. “Many acts will be original musical Arab-Jewish ensembles and bands created especially for the festival in never-before seen lineups,” concert booking agent Hillel Wachs told Billboard.com. 2BVibes, the company staging the festival, also organized last year’s Jerusalem Rocks fest, which featured Black Eyed Peas and Arrested Development. Joe Cocker seems the logical choice to headline Gilboa, because if there’s one thing Jews and Arabs can agree on, it’s that they have no idea what Joe Cocker is saying when he sings; thankfully, they’ll have access to the handy translation in the video above.

Joe Cocker to the rescue! His concert is going to erase 55+ years of animosity between the Jews and Arabs. Maybe after this concert is over he should also play a concert in Baghdad, Iraq, so the insurgents could lay down their arms and the Sunni and Shiites could be at peace with each other. World Peace is almost here!!! Joe Cocker you da man!

Everybody would be so confused about what the hell he’s saying that they’ll have to love each other and work everything out.

or kill each other.

If the concert gets everyone to think about getting along better- for even a fleeting moment-we’ll be in better shape than we were before! A little less cynicism and a bit more positive vibe is in order :-)

the goal of a festival like this is to bring people together, jews and arabs, to enjoy together, to listen to music that comes from both cultures – not to solve political issues…

if the respected writer would try to find out a little bit about israel – he would see that there is coexistence exists between people.

festivals like this bring people to get together – as people – not as nations in a conflict that the politicians couldn’t solve…

you should have been there, among the 40000 people – jews and arabs – that proved that it is possible…

oh – and it’s 60 years…

You don’t need to understand lyrics to dance!
