Report: Limited Edition Beatles iPod Coming to Bloomingdales

7/11/08, 12:06 pm EST

Though the Beatles‘ music remains unavailable on iTunes, Bloomingdales may play host to the first official meeting of the Fab Four and Steve Jobs’ device. The department store has acquired the rights to Beatles images from Apple Records and will produce a series of T-shirts, jackets and accessories that bear images from posters and album artwork. But the big news is that they will also produce a limited-edition Beatles iPod stocked with every song in the band’s catalog. Only 100 will be made available, so consider it the ultimate rock & roll fetish item when the line launches this holiday season.

In other Beatles news, the iconic drum skin on the front cover of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band went to auction yesterday in London, fetching over $1 million. The item was the most popular of the Beatles memorabilia that sold at Christie’s Auction House, getting four times more than expected. A hand-penned lyric sheet of John Lennon’s “Give Peace a Chance” also sold well with a winning bid of over $800,000. A bunch of never-before-seen Beatles photos and Lennon’s sunglasses from the Mind Games sleeve were also auctioned off.

If it means the sound quality of their music has been updated using the latest technology, and all the remastered/remixed CDs will be be reissued soon, then I’m all for it. Would love to have one of the limited edition Ipods, but I just want their music to sound as great as it is. Finally.

We’re selling a 3Gb Nano pre-loaded with Spinal Tap, in tribute to the Black Album (aka Smell The Glove). It was supposed to be a 30 Gb Nano, but the idea was scribbled on a npakin and someone misread it. All songs are in Doubly.

It goes to ELEVEN.

:-P

Yes. It’s true. We do carry the new limited edition Beatles Ipods. I work at the Beverly Center. We have them in the men’s denim dept. I sold the first 2 last night. They go for almost 800 dollars. They also do not look like the picture above at all! They are all black and have the beatles logo on the front. They do however, come in this fully stocked box with cd’s, guitar picks, and other beatles collector items. email me at soto.lucy@sbcglobal.net for info. We can also have them shipped to you. Let me know!

It’s just a yellow Ipod with a Yellow Submarine sticker pasted on it. Really stupid idea to go with the most likely stupid price. Buy the records and hear them as they were meant to be heard.

I already have all their CDs. Now, they want me to buy them all AGAIN just to get an iPod with The Beatles logo on it? Stupid marketing strategy… I’ve converted all my Beatles songs and loaded them on my iPod 8GB Nano, including the first four albums in STEREO. I’m tired of waiting for Apple and EMI to stop squabbling and get their act together. I’m sure a LOT of people are… Sorry Sir Paul, but Dr. Ebbets, Purple Chick and other bootleggers have stepped in and done what Apple and EMI should have done themselves years and years ago.
