Fender to Launch Billy Corgan Stratocasters

7/3/08, 1:36 pm EST

Fender will launch a line of Stratocasters this month dedicated to the Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan. The two-tone guitars are a modern take on the iconic Strat design but built with a high-gain sound to capture Corgan’s signature (via My Bloody Valentine) “mid-’90s buzz saw tone. “The versatility of this instrument is what impresses me and is why I’m really excited about this model,” Corgan said. According to Corgan, his favorite guitar was stolen in 1991 and has since been bouncing from model to model looking to fill its vacancy. Corgan joins Buddy Guy, Elvis Costello, Eric Clapton and Dinosaur Jr.’s J. Mascis as artists to get their own signature Fender guitars.

Is this why Adore came out? He lost his guitar? You heard it here first folks.

Give him a break. He lost his guitar & his mom died that year, that’s why Adore came out.

As long as Rolling Stone has articles that even mention the name Billy Corgan, people will not stop leaving negative comments about him.

Stop fooling yourselves.
Adore is a sideways shitshow.

He looses his guitar in 91, Siamese Dream came out in 93, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness came out in 95, and Adore came out in 98. So I guess I can see where you would think that the loss of his guitar produced Adore… to bad the guitar doesn’t look like any of the strats he used in the Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie era.

Sure, Adore sucks… and Steely Dan can’t write songs… and the Beatles aren’t as good as NSYNC. Sure, Adore sucks.

Dogonroof | 7/5/2008, 12:18 pm EST

hey guys can we just enjoy the fuckin fact that a great guitarist is finally gettin official recognition by one of the best guitar manufacturers out there

mcache | 7/6/2008, 8:22 pm EST

Dean – Adore sucks. It really does. Don’t take it personally – it’s just a really shitty album.

Supertramp | 7/7/2008, 3:35 am EST

Ever listened to Perfect when you’re stoned as shit? Don’t talk about Adore being “bad.”

stupid Machina | 7/7/2008, 10:59 am EST

love, love, love The Pumpkins, I cant say I remember much from Adore, but all their previous albums were awesome, in my oppinion. But for a truly unlistenable album, try Machina. Or dont. Save your eardrums from that turd.

People won’t stop leaving negative comments because he’s an asshole.

oh, and Adore’s a great album. you should accept that “different” is sometimes okay, as long as the songs are good. unlike Zeitgeist.
