7/1/08, 5:31 pm EST

Dave Matthews Band saxophonist LeRoi Moore was injured yesterday after his ATV had an accident on his farm in Charlottesville, Virginia. Moore was immediately transferred to the University of Virginia Health System where he remains in serious condition. Moore has been with the band since their formation in 1991. DMB will continue on with their tour tonight in Charlotte, NC, with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones’ saxophonist Jeff Coffin sitting in. The Dave Matthews Band headlines this weekend’s Rothbury Festival.

Show some compassion. Leroi was a great man and a great muscian who is irreplaceable. For all of you who have to better yourself by talking down on people should ask yourself what have you done for this world because I know Dave and the band have done a lot more for the goodness of humanity than you have “stupid sam” Dave is continuing his tour for the love of music not for the money. Its time to rethink your morals.

Well now hes dead… The tour should be cancelled. And I have tickets to MSG and I even think it should be.

my prayers go out to LeRoi’s family, the DMB family, and all of us…the DMB fans! :(

I am APPAULED by some of the rather nasty comments on here. Those of you who felt it nessessary to make such nasty comments or become posers need not conitue to mouth off to a group of men you do not know.. Thankfully, the boys are adult enough to ignore general smut from brainless wonders like you..

Hey guys - Dave’s a good guy. I’m sure he’s deeply concerned for his friend. Other posters are right - knowing that Leroi is in great hands, Dave is focusing on keeping the DMB show going. There are a lot of fans and employees who count on the show continuing. Try being in Dave’s shoes, huh? He has double responsibilities. Besides, it’s not just Dave, it’s all the band member’s concerns!

I have personally seen the past three dave matthews band shows that did not include leroi, and although leroi is irraplacable jeff coffin is doing a hell of a job filling in. the dave matthews band is still as great as ever, heres to a quick recovery to leroi.

true professionals | 7/5/2008, 9:14 pm EST

I come from a family of professional musicians. There are contracts to be honored, payroll to make, fans who have invested sometimes hundreds of dollars to travel to a show. In only the most tragic or unavoidable situations do true professionals cancel a show. Does Tom Brady or Brett Farve cancel a game if there is a personal tragedy on or off the team? Our band lost our beloved frontman/singer/songwriter to a freak car accident on a 3 day break. We took a week off, then went back on the road. The love from our fans helped heal the wound while they cried with us. Our thoughts & prayers are with LeRoi and his family. I’m sure everyone in DMB would like to be at his side. But the rest of the world doesn’t stop when your world is hurting.

A man who never did anything wrong to some of you besides become successful at playing music you don’t like has been seriously injured.

Somehow, that was all the opportunity a few of you needed to express your racism, musical distaste for a band, and make homophobic remarks.

Bravo, top of the human evolutionary pyramid.

Remember, Leroi can always recover. And if some of you try really hard, you can always get smarter.

Hello all. I’m auditioning for a new saxophone player for my band now that LeRoi Moore is injured and won’t be back. The applicant must be familiar and a fan of the songs of the DMB, a brilliant saxophone player, needs to be black, smoke some good ganja weed, willing to blow me whenever the need arises, have the ability to continuously praise me and kiss my ass and willing to go on tours to make me look good. Apply at my website. Disregard the get well wishes to LeRoi on there - the record label made me do it. Thanks.

Dave Matthews Band totally sucks.

That said, if this rotten excuse for a “musician” broke his jaw or hand, just what would you do then? Cry “The show must go on?” Sometimes you have to know when to “throw in the towel”.

Sam | 7/2/2008, 9:43 am EST

Denton…don’t be an idiot! You dont just cancel a tour and send everyone home because of an accident. A death maybe…DMB has over 80 people on its payroll and contractual obligations. And if you have ever been in a band you would know that no matter what happens you make the gig. I would guess you are the type to go home and keep misery company on your couch…dont throw in the towel so quickly

Denton | 7/1/2008, 6:13 pm EST

I can’t remember ever hearing of a band continuing a tour after something like this. An illness or minor physical injury like a broken bone, sure. But, the guy is in serious condition, and they’re just hitting the road? Pretty weak, I think.

Of course, with all that money at stake, maybe they don’t have a choice. Look at what The Who did…
