“Rock Band” Sequel Promises “Biggest Soundtrack Ever”

Following last week’s sneak peak at Guitar Hero: World Tour, top rival Rock Band has revealed some details about its own sequel. Most notably, the game will allow all tracks users purchased for the first installment to be compatible with Rock Band 2 without having to repurchase songs. Rock Band 2 promises to also have “the biggest and most diverse soundtrack ever” comprised entirely of master recordings. In terms of instruments, there will be improved drum and guitar peripherals, but the previous game’s instruments will still work. Rock Band 2 will debut exclusively on XBox 360 in September before moving to additional systems later in the year.

Both Guitar Hero and Rock Band would be a little better if they had some Zepplin, AC/DC, Beatles, and maybe some Reel Big Fish

Rock Band is just so good at one-upping Guitar Hero. With the last installment of Guitar Hero, they claimed that the downloadable content would be massive. It ended up being a sporadic trickle of three song sets. Rock Band, on the other hand, has three songs a week and the occasional full album.

Guitar Hero just can’t compete.

For the love of god, put in Led Zeppelin, The Beatles or AC/DC. I know it’s difficult but the time for excuses is over. If “Hello, Goodbye” can show up on a Target commercial it can damn well show up in RB.

Here we go again… guitar hero and rock band battling out. At least Slash will be on the guitar hero world tour!
