Great band. Cannot wait for the new album. Yes, Oasis have put out good records SINCE What’s the Story Morning Glory–so please dont just post: “they only have two good songs. Oasis sucks.”

Listen and learn. October 7th cannot come fast enought. Oasis!

‘Don’t Beleive The Truth’ was a great record and it’s too bad Oasis doesn’t get the hype that Coldplay get as it was so much better than X&Y.

This new album sounds like it will be all rock as DBTT was more acoustic based.

Can’t wait!

Gnarly! Oasis is a band to be admired. Does anyone know if Zach Starkey is on drums again?

versedandvested | 6/25/2008, 2:20 pm EST

Zak’s no longer on the scene after “artistic differences” with the Chief (Noel Gallagher to American dunderheads). I’m unbelievably anxious for what is certain to be a step-up from 05’s great and sometimes magnificent lp. It’s a shame a rag like RS likes to pretend like they don’t even exist anymore…which is in perfect lock-step with most of the ignorant american music “aficionados”.

Should be some truly great stuff here.

I fail to see why you need to make this an “American” thing. Never been a huge Oasis fan, I liked the Beatles the first time around.

Gfan | 6/25/2008, 6:23 pm EST

Oasis sound nothing like the Beatles…..that is such a played
out response. If anything Coldplay sounds more like them.

Don’t Believe The Truth was a great album. Looking for to the next.

“Oasis sound nothing like the Beatles.”

LOL. They use the same simple pop melodies and add nothing to them. Get over it. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just boring to me.

Cant wait until october guys!
Oasis
Best band ever – we need real rock back
not cheap immitators ike the foo fighters and bland rock coldplay
As Noel said , “bono, chris martin and the rest know deep down that we are the dogs bo*locks”
How 100% right he is
I WANT ANOTHER BE HERE NOW – amps turned up to 11 and 25 guitar solos!

David Alavez | 6/26/2008, 6:09 am EST

This is great news after
DBTT helped me get back into oasis. I had the first 4 lp’s but now i have them all.

Rock on guys
Mad for it

H Jones, NY | 6/26/2008, 6:11 am EST

This album will be a huge world wide hit for oasis mark my words;)
.
Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman has heard the album and said she thought the band were “back on total firing form”, adding that the songs were “huge”, that the first single would “hit you like a tonne weight and just really reminded me of when I heard stuff like “Rock and Roll Star” and “Supersonic” for the first time”, and to “get excited ‘cos it willl blow you away”

The buzz is that this album is huge and stadium filling.

Heard good things about the new oasis album.

A lot of people with reputations and credibilty are saying its as good as anything theyv’e done in their history. Think Columbia (the gretest ever oasis track in my opinon) to get a feel for how it sounds.

The Shock of the Lightning

versedandvested | 6/26/2008, 2:06 pm EST

Why make it an “American thing”. Well, because it IS an “American thing” -the balance of the world seems to have “gotten it” and never lost the reasons why they’re one of the top rock n roll acts of the last 20 yrs. keep the tired, staid beatles references coming, theyre humorous to those who actually LISTEN to Oasis.

there’s your “thing”.

Regal | 6/29/2008, 8:53 pm EST

“LOL. They use the same simple pop melodies and add nothing to them. Get over it. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just boring to me.”

This comment is typical of people who think they understand music but really know nothing. First, complexity does not make music great, it’s the CONNECTION and the quality…a whole combination of things. Second, the Beatles melodies weren’t “simple.” If you genuinely believe that, I don’t know what to tell you. Perhaps you need some new ears, or maybe you should stick to commenting on subjects that actually interest you (ie- not music) rather than ones that give you an opportunity to peddle this kind of transparent, baseless condescension.

Oasis made two of the best records of the last twenty years, if not the best. Their other records have been good too, although not quite as brilliant as the first three. Oasis’ music is still by far better than the rest of the garbage that comes out today. Oasis is still the best. Rolling Stone should pull its head out and give Oasis the recognition they deserve as one of the best rocks acts. Its funny how rolling stone ignores them and pretend they don’t exist even when they still have a major affect on the charts. Rolling stone is pure trash.
