After two years of sitting dormant on the tracks, the Soul Train is ready to move again, thanks to new ownership. Series creator and longtime host Don Cornelius has sold the long-running franchise to production company MadVision, who plan to both produce new episodes for the first time since 2006 as well as release DVDs and Internet content from the show’s massive archives. In recent years, Soul Train had only been broadcast in syndication in the form of “Best Of” episodes. MadVision is already talking to producers about the 2008 version of Soul Train, hoping to update it to connect with a younger audience. For the nostalgic set, “The series has never been shown on DVD, and it’s not been utilized on video-on-demand or mobile or Internet platforms,” MadVision co-founder Peter Griffith said. “There are many opportunities that we are exploring.”

You know what forget what I said about the mid 90’s it still had the vibe it took awhile for me to change my mind about it, the mid 90’s was blowin! 2000 where it really started to fade but if you are a true ST fan like me u should love all the season’s from it.I quess it would be okay if they do make collections for the 2000’s era’s

How can u say everything else is garbage?Cmon the early 90’s was a great year for ST with it’s new jack swing vibe, mid 90’s where it started to fade, but the early 90’s still had the light in the train! So they need to make DVD’s for 70s 80s and also the 90s!!

They need to go ahead and release the Best of the 70s and 80s. Everything after that was pure garbage! Sorry, i know the truth hurts, lol.

I am so glad that someone has found this treasure & dusted it off! As an African American, growing up in the 80s, Soul Train was my only reason for getting up on Saturday before 1 p.m. because it was a very rare time in t.v. where WE had an hour just for us! This show featured my people & my music with people who looked like me and danced the way we did in my hood! I am glad someone is bringing it back & will also bring it to DVD, the internet & VOD formats. It’s time to put THE TRAIN back on the tracks, so MadVision do your thing!!!
