Steve is right. The vibe of the entire festival wasn’t the same at all.

2004-2005 were insane lineups….now bonnaroo is headed toward the lolla/cochella vibe which doesnt bother me because big festivals blow IMO. summercamp, 10klf, and all good festival are where its at

Went as it was waning. You could really tell that regardless of how you felt about the music, the community, crowd, etc. was really going disappearing/going downhill, respectively.

I agree the lineup has changed. I went to the 1st 3 and then help organize the 4th. The lineup has chnaged with the music scene. The Jamband scene was very centralized around msg boards, tape trader sites and so fourth and the indie world has meshed into that thus Bonerzoo has adapted to what its orignal fan base wants and while at the same time cultivating a new fan base/customers by attracting other bands that dont get the radio/press attnetion like jam bands.

Why did it take this long for Bonnaroo to get all of the exposure that it is finally getting this year? As far as I’m concerned, 2006 was the last great year for Bonnaroo. The lineups seem less and less appealing. Don’t get me wrong; I’ve been to 4 of them and it is an amazingly organized festival. The environment is great and I’ve often said that if Bonnaroo was a town, I’d move there. But there’s something about the recent lineup selections that make it lose it’s appeal. Just my thoughts.
