I looove coldplay… & Chris Martin. There should be more celebrities like him. I’ll faint the day i meet them. Their songs are also amaaazing in my opinion, and for all those people who hate coldplay and left a stupid comment, why’d you watch the video?…

Mel | 11/4/2008, 1:25 pm EST

to the ppl complaining that bo diddleys not on the cover - the issues are planned out way ahead of time. im sure this cover was already designed by the time bo died. now if hes not on the next cover, THEN you can complain.

Tino | 6/12/2008, 1:29 pm EST

Chris’ answer to the movie question near the end made me LOL.

VIVA LA COLPLAY!

The audio in this story was absolutely terrible. Terrible field recording, terrible voice-over recording and terrible mix. C’mon RS. You’re supposedly a music magazine filled with audiophiles, you should know how to put a video package together.

I’m an audio engineer. Hire me! I’ll fix your problems!

With a Chris Martin cover and interview, you all should expect RS to give the new Coldplay album either a 4 or 5 star review.

Mark | 6/12/2008, 9:00 am EST

A Rush of Blood to the head is one of the greatest records ever…that alone deserves him a place on this cover.

GRS | 6/12/2008, 8:32 am EST

The reason people such as myself think Coldplay stink are summed up in the interview when Brian Eno is quoted as telling them: “He goes, “Your songs are too long. And you’re too repetitive, and you use the same tricks too much, and big things aren’t necessarily good things, and you use the same sounds too much, and your lyrics are not good enough.”

Nuff said.

SORRY GUYS, BUT BO DIDDLEY SHOULD HAVE MADE THE COVER….NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS ABOUT IT.

Comfort Inn | 6/12/2008, 6:51 am EST

Bo Diddley not the cover? nothing against Chris or Coldplay but Jeez…..

Its about time RS joins this millenium and our Rock Stars.

And the fact that Coldplay are compared to U2 is not a good thing for them. U2 is a piece of corporate shit, don’t let Bono’s saintly act fool you. Martin’s jacket looks like it’s been designed by the “Make Trade Fair” clothing co.

The Intl | 6/12/2008, 3:40 am EST

Frikkin’ millionaires - don’t any of them own a shaver?

nish | 6/12/2008, 3:34 am EST

i think the new album is really good.i have to appreciate the fact that they have tried to do something different from their past albums and thats probably wot makes the new album a much better prospect for coldplay.

U2 is still far ahead of coldplay, but in my opinion if coldplay kept producing some real good albums like their latest one in the time to come, then they might be right up there with some of the greatest rock acts in the history.

Lance Swanson | 6/12/2008, 2:30 am EST

I think it’s so funny that a lot of people don’t like Coldplay, because they are obviously a great band with a ton of very good songs.

I just love Chris Martin’s knowledge of music history and his ability to accept people’s opinions of Coldplay’s music as valid whether they love it or hate it.

He’s just a breath of fresh air and his modesty is becoming.

I really think they will make brilliant albums for decades to come, and Viva La Vida is a masterpiece, as I heard the advance.

James | 6/12/2008, 2:01 am EST

I like the Nick Lowe “Jesus of Cool” reference, here.

Coldplay deserve it - the singles are great, and I smell records breaking when the album drops. They’ve matured big time, which almost always equals better music.

Erofe | 6/11/2008, 11:54 pm EST

coldplay no doubt with this album, can be considered a legendary rock group. songs from his latest album have an excellent instrumental repertoire, and a magnificent performance. the effects, distorted guitars, and the manufacture of processed Soll make its impresionate creating an album full of a lot of technique and imposing

Bas | 6/11/2008, 11:37 pm EST

looking forward to he article, seems like he has some interesting stuff to say.

kirkland | 6/11/2008, 8:14 pm EST

yes

Michelle | 6/11/2008, 7:34 pm EST

Good cover, RS! :D

AZ | 6/11/2008, 6:47 pm EST

I now only read RS for the gossip. Chris Martin is an “American Rock God”? That puts him up there (as I’m sure you know) with Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Springsteen. Now I know you have to sell Rolling Stone, we all do in these troubled times, but if your (YOUR) very definition of what constitutes a Rock God is this much in question…maybe Iraq had WMD’s…maybe Area 51 does house the remnants of alien craft…maybe I got a bridge in New York I can sell ya…cheap. Cheap. Your new motto RS.com. Now tell me again how Prince is suing his fans…
