Philadelphia played host to an eclectic bill this past Saturday with hip-hop’s premier band the Roots taking over Festival Pier for the first Roots Picnic. Gnarls Barkley, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Deerhoof and Diplo delivered genre-clashing sets to a smoked-out crowd that braced sweltering heat during the daylong festivities.
