Radiohead kicked off the European leg of their In Rainbows tour this weekend with a two-night stop in Dublin, bringing with them a new song “Super Collider.” The song had previously been sound-checked by the band, and Thom Yorkeused the encore portion of both Dublin shows to try the song out on a live audience with a solo performance. Check out the video above. Also performed during sound-checks, and posted in a video on Radiohead social network waste.central, is Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood attempting Portishead’s “The Rip,” from that group’s new album Third. The video, which was posted by Colin Greenwood, shows the duo covering the song backstage at the band’s show last month in St. Louis, Missouri.

Radiohead are undeniably awesome, if you understand them. If more people open their minds to this kind of music, they should see where all of the hype comes from.

Jim, let me just say that really, i think bands like U2 and Coldplay are overrated, i hardly hear about Radiohead in the mainstream(which i think is good) and i think that people who don’t understand their music want to right them off as overrated or over-sensationalized…but oh well, i feel lucky to understand them, and appreciate their music.

Well, I believe the song is meant to be with the full band, as the whole band was heard soundchecking the song…as the report states, Yorke is sort-of testing it…

If they’re so great & unbelievable, why don’t they institue a “pay what it’s worth” plan for their shows?

Without question the most overrated band in the past 20 years. Who isnt sick and tired of hearing about how witty and insightful this group is?! They are good and even better than good without question, however I have never seen a band so sensationalized in my lifetime.

wow. Best band in the world today. Their leader writes great stuff. It’s going to be unbelievable when the rest of them play also.

It just isnt radiohead without the rest of everyone. Thom Yorke has good ideas on the piano, but we need the rest of Radiohead.

Reminds of a Rob Giles song- Superconductor Supercollider.

it seems thom yorke hasn’t had a writer’s block for a while, which is good. He’s coming up with a lot of good music
