As part of our 100 Greatest Guitar Songs extravaganza, we’re asking our readers to draw up their own lists and let us know what they think the best six-string epics are. After one week of voting, the readers have declared that Radiohead’s “Paranoid Android” is the Greatest Guitar Song ever, with a pair of Hendrix tunes, “Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)” and “Little Wing” on its heels. Disagree with the majority thus far? Tell us your picks in the comments below. We’ll post the final results for the Greatest Guitar Songs: Readers’ Remix next week.

The Beatles: While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Radiohead: Paranoid Android
Radiohead: My Iron Lung
Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd: Stairway To Heaven
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Under the Bridge

Please tell me someone didn’t say “Stairway to Heaven” — by PINK FLOYD!!! Tell me my computer’s fried and the monitor just read it wrong.

Captain JekyllHyde | 6/7/2008, 8:43 pm EST

most everything that Robert Randolph’s put his hand to’s been pretty amazing. But he’s a slide guitar player, so A) the sound is so much different than lead guitar solos, and B) that means he won’t be on this list.

The Byrds “Eight Miles High” — let’s all give props to the 12-string chiming Rickenbacker.

Albert King “Crosscut Saw”

and a tie between “Welcome To The Jungle” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns and Roses. Slash needs to listen to those songs again, judging by his latest efforts.

Always thought Steve Stevens with Billy Idol deserved mention for his part in “white Wedding.”
