Metallica Previews New Studio Material to Positive Results

6/4/08, 4:22 pm EST

A pair of British metal magazines were given the opportunity to preview six songs from the upcoming Metallica album, with both publications giving the initial listening positive remarks. Both Rock Sound and Metal Hammer compared the new material to Master of Puppets, while the first single drew comparisons to the hit “Nothing Else Matters.” Of the six song previewed, only “Flamingo” had a working title, and one was described as having a “Rage Against the Machine” vibe.

You ain’t kidding! Dying to hear what Rick Rubin can pull out of these guys. Sounds like he’s got them going in the right direction

i think the best thinkg that can happen for metallica right now is for a few of these to leak, poeple need to hear the new direction, it won’t shut up the ‘fans’ who hate them tho

The new songs really need to be leaked out. Call it damage control!

Nah… keep building the hype.. Last thing Metallica needs is some unmastered version of a song to leak out so either a 40 year old burnt out reject or some nerd playing a plastic Kiss guitar can call them overated and RIP since 89.

I’m looking forward to this one. Not so much that Rubin is producing it, but more that Rob Truijlo finally is recording with the band rather than Bob Rock trying to become a permanent member… St. Anger sounded like a better rehearsal DVD than an album, and I attributed that to Rob and a snare that wasn’t replaced with a small tom.

I don’t think Metallica cares what the naysayers think. You either love them or hate them. I for one can’t wait. The only record I don’t listen to any more from these guys is ReLoad and I am pretty sure this one will be on my daily listening for the first 4-6 months after its release.

Im sick of all my peers (especially the older metelars) saying how tired and old and how nuch metallica suck now. Untill you have had their success and done as much for music than they have then your opinion may be heard. but till then SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

New album snippets sound great lots of harmonys and thr return of solos. they will slay their their critics with this on i tells ya lol
