Metallica to Receive “Guitar Hero” Treatment in 2009

6/3/08, 2:01 pm EST

Metallica’s thrashing riffs and spiraling guitar solos will soon be honored with their own incarnation of the Guitar Hero franchise, according Gamespot. The Metallica-only edition of the popular video game is said to be due out early in 2009 on various consoles. The San Francisco headbangers will join the ranks of Aerosmith as bands that have Guitar Hero editions dedicated to them. No word yet on which songs will be featured and whether or not other bands’ songs will be included (as is the case on the Aerosmith version), but virtual shredders are already familiar with the band, as “One” appeared on Guitar Hero III and several tunes (including “Enter Sandman”) are available on competitor title Rock Band.

While Metallica certainly deserves it’s version of guitar hero, Van Halen should be hands down the 1st due out! After all it is called guitar hero! Rock On!

so is the way you spell ridiculous Jeremy. They were done long before St Anger(which sold jack). They have spoke of a new album for years and just like G-N-R have tried to use that as a way to stay in the mainsteam when their music and fan base has died. Pretty pathetic. Please go spend money on an album by a band who cannot hack it anymore and has not since the late 80’s. Can you hear me Hettfield? Oh that is right you cannot.

Metallica a washed up hair metal band from the 80s? That is rediculous, Metallica has earned 7 grammys . . . and they only won one in the 80s and that was at the end in 89. Their last grammy was in 2003. And the new album is coming out before Chinese Democracy so how is it Chinese Democracy 2? Especially since St. Anger came out only 5 years ago . . .

You must be young to make comments like that. Go listen to fall out boy.

yeah a game of hair band power chords = complete waste of money. These guys are tools now and were way back then too. Hey where is the new album? Might as well start to name it Chinese Democracy #2!

Just toss all of Kill ‘Em All on there.

ElComandante | 6/3/2008, 3:49 pm EST

Well…Metallica is allways Metallica, and noone doubt that, but I think people are a bit tired of Sandman. I’d rather seeing songs like Harvester or Ride The Lightning.
