Madonna’s Malawi Adoption Approved

5/28/08, 2:07 pm EST

Nearly two years after adopting her son in Malawi, a court in the capital city of Lilongwe has finally approved Madonna’s adoption of David Banda. Madonna had previously been accused of using her celebrity to bypass certain aspects of the adoption process, which began in 2006. The ruling comes exactly two weeks after the Material Girl announced she’d help establish a girls’ school in Malawi. Madonna adopted David Banda after his birth mother died of an AIDS-related disease. Speaking about the Malawian court’s decision, Madonna’s lawyer said “It is a positive and beautiful judgment that will have an impact on Malawi’s adoption laws.”

I really don’t agree with what you are saying. Do you ven know anything about how the adoption system works in Malawi? The orphanage where david was staying was clean and safe and a wonderful place for him to grow up. He wasb’t there because he was an orphan, he was there because they were giving him a chance of education, clothing and food. If you believe in material things then yes, he would probebly be getting a better life with her. But, if what is reported in th media is true and she has loads of nannys, then would this really be a MUCH better life?

I think the Malawi government should be ashamed, it is obvious they tried to milk every penny possible out of Madonna in order to give her right for adoption. Some people call Madonna a hypocrite but i think here its exactly the other way around. She is giving the kid a MUCH better life than it would get in a poverty and AIDS infested country and now that Malawi is getting orphanages and schools from Madonna as well as all the publicity they could get they finally say “ok”? Madonna should sue them!
