Weezer Give YouTube Celebs a Sixteenth Minute in “Pork and Beans” Video

5/23/08, 1:20 pm EST

Above sits the new video for Weezer’s “Pork and Beans.” Regardless of how you view the intentional or unintentional comedic value of the band’s new songs, there’s no denying the “Pork” video is funny, as the band has seemingly recruited everyone who’s carved out fifteen minutes of fame on YouTube and crammed them into one clip. There’s Miss South Carolina, Tay Zonday and that guy who cries to leave Britney alone. Even Kevin Federline and that heavy kid that sings “Numa Numa” make appearances. At first we thought, “It must have cost Weezer thousands to get all that talent in one place,” but then conventional wisdom took hold and we realized it probably only cost bus fare and a room at the Motel 6. Weezer’s new self-titled album will be out June 3rd.

South Park rip off.

hey matt stone, shut your mouth this is a great video Weezer is a great band, and south park is a lame show they steal jokes all the time from other shows. the whole show’s premise is making fun of other shows and pop culture so there a big fat rip off.

Both Weezer and South Park are ingenious in their own ways. Sure South Park had many of these YouTube stars first, but Weezer united them in real life and made an awesome music video. They are both original and both deserve their credit.

AMAZING. =w= for life

I cringed when I read the description of the video. After I watched it, I realize they made another great “Let’s root for the underdog!” music video that they’ve done brillantly in the past.

Also, I really like this song. So, “The Red Album” is quickly becoming a must-buy when it comes out.

As much as I despise everything about YouTube, I have to admit this video gave me chills. Awesome song, brilliant concept!…Weezer are one of the few bands that continuously come up with highly stylized, uber-creative music videos…speaking of which, holy cowpie, has it really been almost 15 years since “Buddy Holly”?

It wasn’t funny when south park did it (chris crocker parodies died a week after he became famous), nor is it funny here.

stupid George | 5/26/2008, 10:11 am EST

um, that was Chris Crocker, was’nt it?

Nevada U | 5/26/2008, 9:44 pm EST

Personally, I feel that it’s not so much a straight-up parody as it is a self-deprecating homage, seeing as all YouTube “celebrities” (~wince~) that make an appearance are actually themselves…

SVUF | 5/27/2008, 10:29 am EST

Cool song and video…but weird!!

Great song, could care less about the video but it’s good.

Matt Stone should shut the fuck up.
