Is a capella secretly awesome? Author Mickey Rapkin makes a pretty good case for it with his new book Pitch Perfect: The Quest for A Capella Glory, a compelling read about what drives people to band together to sing nine-party harmonies on Toto’s “Africa” and call themselves names like “Whiffenpoofs.” Click below for info on Rapkin’s book, plus entries on American Gladiators, James Frey and a Heath Ledger action figure, all on the Rolling Stone Top 10.

Yeah! A Cappella is awesome.
For those who dig this kind of singing, there’s a massive international celebration upcoming in 2009:
The A Cappella Centennial Celebration. Honors the birth of collegiate singing (at Yale 100 yrs ago)..which launched this massive singing phenomenon. Check it out at www.ac100.org
