Wow! I cant believe that ppl actually think that David Cook is bad.
David A is a cutie but he is a teeny-bopper. Has a great voice but isnt American Idol material.

I have to agree with deadhorse in that regardless of whether he won or lost, David Cook will inevitably become a true “star” and deliver (like Daughtry —or Carrie Underwood)…….David Archuletta, while extremely talented, has never come off as “comfortable” in his performances. While his age should not be a factor, he does seem to be younger than his 17 years…..he seems to have no sense of self…..and comes off as “rehearsed”…..naively awkward maybe. He makes it look like “work” rather than something he is passionate about and enjoying……While trying not to pass judgement, even his “naivete” does not seem genuine……and he has always impressed me as a well-behaved trained beagle….and I suspect, an overprotected cash cow. I am sure that will change as he ages, and I hope for his sake that he ditches his ever-disruptive stage-dad and finds his own voice. (As a side note, I find it funny that Val (sounding like a spoiled teen herself) is lamenting the fact that David C’s mom seemed to be counting his cash….when even the “experts” have lamented that David A’s father might possibly do him more harm than good in terms of his career…..But getting back to the music however, I predict we will see (hear?) great things —-artistic things—- from David Cook…….and David Archuletta may have a brilliant career on Broadway…he just won’t ever be the record seller that David Cook will be. All in all though, this was a great season with many exceptional talents. I would love to see many of them do well…..and look forward to hearing from them again.

And no, David Archuleta will not have a fantastic career in music. Payola ended a few years ago; his ability to garner airplay will largely rely on personality, and ability to be original. There were 24 contestants that could sing someone else’s songs this season. However, only a few had true musical talent and ability, outside of vocals. David Archuleta was not one of them. He seems like a nice kid; I hope that he goes to college and gets a backup plan because he just isn’t marketable. The sizzle may still be there for the next six months or so, but it will not last into a memorable or effective second album.

Val obviously has no clue how the music business works. Do you know what iTunes is? As of the 9 PM EST hour tonight, Collective Soul’s “The World I Know” was number 26 on the Top 100 most purchased list. It had been on that list all day. “I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing” also was in the Top 100. I looked really really hard but could not find any of Archie’s songs in the Top 100. Do you remember the name John Stevens? He too was a high school contestant that could only sing one style. He was fortunate enough to release one album. Archuleta should consider himself lucky with his one album. David Cook will deliver Daughtry like results. The proof? You can already listen to songs he has written and performed on; David Archuleta has never written a song, let alone touched an instrument. This is the first time that American Idol has selected someone that can write and play on their own music. That is why David Cook will be a great Idol, and why David Archuleta will be the next Guarini.

Just what the music business needs ANOTHER LOUD SCREAMER FREAK ROCKER. YUK! He won American Idol, he will end up like another Taylor Hicks. He can only scream his loud mouth for so long. His Mommy could not wait to get up on stage and count his money. And they were making fun of Jeff Archuleta? David Archuleta has the better voice and will be incredible. Now David Cook and Fantasia can sing a duet together, two loud freaks with bad hairdos. YUK. Winning American Idol does not necessarily mean big record sales. Just stroking Simon’s ego more, which I don’t believe David Cook is capable of. I say his contract gets dropped in a year. GULP

Congratulations to both David’s. They will both have outstanding careers.

Did you hear what Seacrest said earlier? One David had 56% of the vote, the other had 44%. Dial Idol had David Cook projected at 58% and David Archuleta at 42% with a 1.5% margin of error. Despite the smell of mothballs last night from the Archuleta camp, I smell victory for David Cook!

David Cook should win this year. David A. has a great voice but HELLO!!! all of his songs sound like the last one. The judges were wrong last night and I hope that they are proved wrong tonite. Although I think Cook is the best and should win, I hope David A. wins. The reason, A. has been working towards this moment for most of his life. It would be a shame if he didn’t win. He is just so boreing to watch. I don’t think he will have much of a career, except if the keep making HS Musical. I think that we will be seeing Dave Cook for a long tome to come. I’d buy his music and see him in concert.

i think they are both great artists. they are in compleltely different generas! so it really isnt a who has a better voice at this point its who you want to hear sing….whose type of music you like. and bashing the one u dont like doesnt make you cool. both of them are amazing in their own ways and both of them will make records and i will buy both of them! i voted for DA…but i wontbe sad either way. they ar both awesome and both deserve to be on the top two!

Like most of you I think Archie will win. I really hope he doesn’t. Cook did way better the whole season. He did win me over with Billie Jean.

Stop it already with the AGE thing! Jordin Sparks was actually younger than lil Dave, it’s just that she acted like a normal 17 year old. Lil David is so dependent on Daddy that he seems like a 10 year old. 17 is old enough to rock out, it’s just not his style. Did you see him butcher the Chris Brown song, he can’t boogie!

David A. sang his best and held his own on the Mountain Top, but David Cook is the one I’d pay bucks to see.

I tried voting for David Cook for 3 1/2 hours (12:30 AM EST)and only got through once. Yes, 1 TIME. Dial Idol had Cook winning by a 4 to 3 vote margin, and that lead started out at 1 point during the first hour, not including margin of error. By the end of hour two, it had moved to nearly 4 points. By the end of hour three, it was nearly a 10 point spread in favor of Cook. I still was not getting through when I stopped calling with 30 minutes of call time left, which would explain this. So, needless to say, if Cook does not win, this will be the biggest sham since the 2004 Presidential Election.

I think u guys should all stop being mean to David A. because he can sing Rock if he tried to just he hasn’t plus he is only 17 so don’t blame him…

What genre would David A. music fit into? Disney radio would be the best fit I’m thinking. I would rather get hit by a bus than have to listen to Archie ever again. My Grandma’s bridge group all love him-they are all in their 70’s and 80’s and they texted like crazy for him instead of playing cards last night. That’s crazy!

i’ve watched every season of american idol and have never loved another contestant more than david archuleta. that voice he has is just insane! the kid is so talented and i can’t WAIT for his CDs & concerts. i like david cook too but for me there’s really just no comparison. I hope you win Archie! (i voted for 4 hours so you better…. lol)

I was disappoited last night - Cook’s song selection wasn’t cooking last night - but, he is definitely the BEST David to go all the way to IDOL 2008! I did vote several times, hope enough smart watchers did also - they are both stars, but only one winner and that is David COOK!

Archuletta won last night but Cook outsang him for the rest of the season.

David Cook should win. He makes every song his own and is a performer I would pay money to see. Young David A. has a great voice, but he will not secure the recording contracts that is awaiting David Cook.

The finals are a formality. Cook worked hard to be original all season, and has demonstrated week after week that he can sing anything.

Archuleta is truly a gifted singer, but sadly can only do ballads. ‘Imagine’ an entire CD of rainbow and unicorn type ballads (yawn). Plus, which record label wants to take on Archuleta’s psycho dad??

Cook is the all round artist and he will win tonight!

i really liked david A but i think that they are both amazing singers! I really won’t be sad tonight when one wins and the other doesnt because i think taht they are both good. I really like how they both seem so sincere and i think that that will help them both. And i also agree that David Archuleta would do good singing christian music.

Everybody knows that David Archuleta is going to win because he is sooooo gorgeous and has such an amazing voice. He deserves to win. Keep on rockin’ David. I love till’ the day I die.

In my opinon syesha should have been in the finals. She has great vocols and is very talented. All her performances was far from boring, unlike Daved Cook. It’s not fair. The judges have there favorites i guess. In my eyes syesha should be the next america idol.

lets me real.. i cant see myself going to a concert to see DA and have him sing slow ass songs! hes amazing but maybe he should do disney soundtracks. David Cook’s little comment last night put a nail in his own coffin. After his last performance or lack of he said ” I wanted to sing a song that i had never before sung” which was a slap in the face of Archuleta. Then Archuleta brought the house down with Imagine by Lennon.

If David Cook does not win..Then this will prove once and for all,that American Idol is not a singing contest…Lets just see who sells CD’s and fills concert halls…

It seems that dialidol is quite accurate and has determined the winner for two years straight. Shows Cook is the winner. I sure hope so. Cook is more versatale and of course ready to make albums and sell out stadiums. Archie needs a lot of coaching and training and then he will do great on the Disney Channel. Cook will play to real audiences!!!! Go Cook!

I think that David Cook will sell records. Also, he has the soul, intelligence, and amazing talent that America wants and needs.

I tried to vote for all four hours and couldn’t get through for David Cook. My friend was able to get through to vote for David A over 30 times. Some funny business going there i would say.

David Cook is the winner in my book. I had 3 phones and voted for him for at least 2 hours. I was getting through all the time, except for a few busy signals.

If you want someone to get out there NOW and make hits Cook is your man…if you want a cutey pie with a good voice but no radio play…arch is your guy. Not knocking arch, his voice is beautiful, he should sing christian music. Cook is far more versatile music wise and is ready to get out there and make records. I KNOW I’LL BE IN LINE TO BUY THEM COOK BABY!! YOU’RE AWESOME!

David A. is just so pure and wonderful and sweet and has such a strong beautiful voice, that’s why I love him. But he DOES lack the stage presense that I think we want in our idols. (but I forgive him, he’s just 17) I hope he wins anyway. What a terrific boy.
