The Ronnie James Dio-era of Black Sabbath will be memorialized in the upcoming boxed set The Rules of Hell, out July 22nd via Rhino. The five-disc set will see four of the Dio Sabbath albums — Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules, Dehumanizer and the double-disc Live Evil — get the remastered treatment. The set will also include extensive liner notes and new interviews with the band. In addition to the set, Dio and Tony Iommi are currently recording a new album as Heaven & Hell, set for release in early 2009. In anticipation for that album, Dio & Iommi will tour with Judas Priest, Testament and Motörhead on the Metal Masters Tour this August.

Sabbath with RJD is a far more Sinister Band!

Too bad mate, I thought Ronnie did a pretty good job of filling in for me when my brain was fried.

Who cares about Ronnie and that era of black sabbath? The ozzy years were the best and most influential. Does anyone really get excited about this lineup? Black sabbath’s Tony Iommi just milking the cow dry. You want to hear the real sabbath-listen to the original and best era of 1970-1978.

Hell Yeah! The one and only line-up! Sorry, but who the f… is Ozzy??
MICFAC | 5/22/2008, 5:29 am EST
I WISH THE ORIGINAL LINE UP WOULD WRITE ANOTHER ALBUM

have you bozos dismissing dio-sabbath actually listened to “heaven & hell”? it’s one of the greatest albums in all of sabbath history. ozzy couldn’t have pulled that album off.
hokeycoke | 5/22/2008, 12:52 pm EST
It’s good news for Tony and Geezer. They have a singer that actually sings, a new album that actually gets made, and set lists that change from time to time!

While it is the RJD version of Black Sabbath, I think its a good move use a different name. Yes, not much in a name but RJD has kept his chops up (he’s in much better condition than poor ol’ Oz, the feet-shuffling finder of the eternal buzz). This new album has serious potential.

Pull your head’s out your rectal cav. This band rocks. Spend some time with Mob rules, you’ll see the light.

I agree that the original lineup can’t be beat. It’s Sabbath. However, with Dio and Iommi being the musical geniuses they are, I’m interested to hear what they’ll come up with…

I worked at pine knob music theatre (now dte) in the 80’s as a ‘red shirt’ rear stage area coordinator. i basicly gave everybody directions and the jist of the place that werent familiar with it, and the right hook ups so they would blow the main bus to the whole place like other bands had (wonky facility) they had two rigs of equiptment, one was the amplification, sound board, lighting and cabling stuff. the other was wardrobe, personal and the rest of the stage platfoming/props ect. they had some of the worst tore up equiptment that i ever seen from an act, but they also had the best sound i had heard all that year, when they showed up around 1:30 pm for sound check they lit the place up. awesome sound/show. they had the amps/cabs hidden behind black cloth drops so it didnt matter i guess (appearance wise)

Heaven & Hell 1st Sabbath lp to pre-ship gold.
Dio doesn’t cancel shows.
Dio doesnt get wasted & blow his voice.
Dio doesn’t do reality tv & air dirty laundry.
Dio saved this band when Ozzy ceased to function & wrote 2 brillian lp’s
luckily Ozzy found Randy Rhoads & the world had 2 graet bands for a brief period.
most people are brainless morons who seem to think Iommi should try to recreate the 1st three sabbath lps for all eternity.
The funny thing is they wouldnt buy them if he did resort to such pandering.
All Hell The Metal Gods BLACK SABBATH & Ronnie James Dio!

I had the honor of seeing Heaven & Hell perform at DTE last week. This was beyond a doubt, one of the best kick ass concerts I have ever seen. I loved seeing Sabbath back in the 70s, but let’s face it, as a vocalist Ozzy is merely a memory of who he once was.
Iommi is still one of the very best guitarists in the world, Geezer still smokes on bass, Vinny Appice has to be one of the ten best drummers in the world and Ronnie James Dio, besides being a legendary vocalist, embraces his stage presence like very few others.
Testament, Motorhead, Heaven & Hell and Judas Priest was one of the best concerts to be seen this year and this tour is what rock and roll was meant to be.
Smokin”!

Cannot fucking wait

I don’t like the ozzy voice in sabbath, but he got some good songs like paranoid and i don’t wanna stop, but Dio is far more mature and respects his fans while ozzy is busy shoving his ass to them. And i think it is great that sabbath are back with ronnie again (under the name Heaven And Hell)and i am looking forward to the next album they are gonna give out and i have tickets so i am gonna have the greatest day of my life with them and they are gonna respect the fans instead of ozzy.
But i think it is great for Heavy Metal that bands like Black Sabbath and Dio and Judas Priest still are playing their music, becuose todays band most are tragic like slipknot, slayer and cannibal corpse.
But i like this album and i am highely recommending it, it is worth every peeny and more
~Mathias~
