Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne Top Bill on One-Day Ozzfest in Dallas

5/13/08, 11:15 am EST

After months of speculation, the official Ozzfest site announced the date, site and lineup for this year’s Ozzfest. The event will take place on August 9th and will be held at the unfortunately named Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, TX. Ozzy Osbourne himself tops a bill that also includes Metallica, Serj Tankian and Jonathan Davis on the main stage. Two other stages will feature up-and-comers like Devildriver, Witchcraft and the Sword. This is the first year in its twelve year history that Ozzfest won’t be a touring festival, and unlike last year’s version (which featured Ozzy, Lamb of God and Black Tide), fans will actually have to pay to get in. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, May 31st.

Serj Tankian and Jonathan Davis as headliners? Good Lord, is this an awful lineup. No wonder they’re not touring (not that Metallica couldn’t seel out the tour on their own … or something).

Metallica,…. i hope Rick Rubin kicks their ass in the studio. I am sooo hoping for a new badass Metallica album.
Metallica is great in this line-up.

I knew that Ozzfest would end. It will work better this way and Dallas is certainly the best spot for it (I’m sure everyone will argue that point).

As for the lineup itself, I’ve seen most of them several times over, so there is no point in making the trek.

One last thing, Jonathan Davis should come with Korn

Pizza Hut Park is in FRISCO not Dallas!

Dude your a loser, and it’s sell out. Jonathan Davis is one of the most talented musicians in the business today and that is why he was chosen for the main stage. all in attendance will see.

Hooray… nu-metal and washed-up metal… in Texas… complete with the stench of sweaty losers that still eat lunch that mom makes…

Pizza Hut Park is a soccer arena (barely a stadium by any means) and poorly designed for concerts for sure. Given that August in the DFW metroplex is scorchingly hot and humid, this will be a sea of 30,000 fetid mulletheads hopelessly out of touch with modern music. Only Serj Tankian is producing anything of merit nowadays, and Ozzy is a nostalgia act at best.

They should change the name of this festival from OzzFest to CrapFest because it’s a line-up of crap.

What the hell happened to Korn?

Man, it’s been years since I’ve been to Ozzfest.

jose | 5/13/2008, 3:01 pm EST

yes pizza hut stadium is in frisco not dallas. Also what’s is up with this line up i recall going to ozzfest years ago in california and seeing pantera slayer etc man this gets worse every year.

How is everyone so negative about this?

It is Metallica and Ozzy? 2 of the pioneers of heavy music. What to you want Slipknot? There would be no slipknot without ‘Tallica and Ozzy.

The Sword are an amazing band from Austin, Texas, and their second CD just came out. For fans of punishing riffs and Conan Rock lyrics!

Choocher | 5/13/2008, 10:30 pm EST

Too bad they canceled Frasier – there’s no venue sophisticated enough for Dingleberry’s with now.

mizan | 5/13/2008, 11:39 pm EST

im glad if metallica come to MALAYSIA..im the fan since 5 years old!!!!!- FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE!!!

Kelsey Grammer | 5/14/2008, 5:55 am EST

I don’t know why you guys are badmouthing Frasier. Its a perfectly good show and I think you’d like it if you gave it a chance.

R-o-o-o-oling Stone. Putting the Eagles on the cover! Acting like the Republican nuts they so rally against by deleting comments!

Luv it…think I’ll try to make the concert.

Have been to the last at least 6 Oz-Fest in a row.

Personally I love ALL Metallica … this a great way to pop the Oz Fest zit for good.

BTW, eating ‘Moms’ meal before the concert.

Shit….i was planning on going too….but Serj Tankian and Metallica are the only people who are halfway decent at Rock/Metal.
