Liz Phair: “For a Long Time, I Felt Like ‘Guyville’ Didn’t Belong To Me”

5/5/08, 2:40 pm EST

Next month marks the fifteenth anniversary reissue of Liz Phair’s Exile in Guyville, one of the finest moments in ’90s indie rock and one of the most remarkable first albums in history. Though Phair’s career has taken many twists and turns since Guyville’s release, some things haven’t changed. “I’ve always felt like an oddball,” she explains. “Even now, I’m not cool enough for the Manhattan Beach moms or sad enough for the Silverlake rockers.” Click here for more from Liz Phair, including her thoughts on feminism and the industry.

Liz is still hot and writing good songs.
Madonna lost both a long time ago.

I love Liz, but shoe has been getting soft. And why does everyone talk about “Guyville” like it was the holy grail. “WhipSmart” was soooooo much better!! “Supernova”, baby!

“Dedge” is an idiot.

Madonna is 51 and STILL kicking ass!! Liz is 41 and even on her worst days writes and sings better songs than 90% of the “relevent” crap out there these days! Can’t wait to hear new music from her soon.

HER AND MADONNA NEED TO HANG IT UP! TOO OLD AND IRRELEVANT.
