5/5/08, 4:55 pm EST

Is Beck on the verge of pulling a Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and Raconteurs? According to MTV News, the singer is set to release his new, Danger Mouse-produced album in a matter of weeks. While his publicist and label would not confirm the report, sources close to the Beck camp insist that the album could be out as soon as four to six weeks.

I can only hope. Beck rules.

Sounds fantastic.

I’ve always liked the idea of beck more than I have ever gotten into him. Of course the only album I own is Odelay, what should I try out to maybe give it another go round?

To the first poster: despite what some may say, I feel that the vibe and dynamic of “Guero” is much more akin to “Odelay” than, say, “The Information” is.

Oops, my bad. First time I posted here and I assumed the order went from top to bottom. I guess what I really meant to say was “to the last poster:”.

give them all at least a listen. They are all extremely different, and each is good for very different reasons.

Midnite Vultures is irrefutably one of the most sex-ed up, libido lacerating albums of the last ten years; it’s him at his most visceral. And Sea Change is an absolute tearjerker or a record.

You could never apply the same description to more than one of his albums; he’s too inventive for that.

If you dislike Beck there’s at least a possibility that you just aren’t listening enough.

4-to-6 weeks?!?!? That’s hardly pulling a Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails or Raconteurs, is it?

I’m far more excited for Beck’s new album than anything ever released by those other three, but a wait of a month or more isn’t really worth the attentive “quick release” hype, is it?

Thanks to the posters that talked about themselves in relation to Beck. (A good year is a year that Beck puts out a new album.)

Alex | 5/6/2008, 5:06 pm EST

I’m glad about this.

Awesome news! each release from Beck is an adventure – lets hope he tours!

I agree with stuporfly, although Beck is amazing 4 to 6 weeks isn’t really a quick release, it’s more of an early release.

This makes me so happy! I can’t wait for a new Beck album. It will be the highlight of my summer, I’m sure.
