Scott Weiland Headed to Jail, Plans Solo Album and Autobiography

5/1/08, 10:35 am EST

Stone Temple PilotsScott Weiland will serve his eight day sentence after being convicted for driving under the influence of drugs back in November 2007, Weiland’s spokesperson and lawyer confirmed. The judge in the case ordered the former singer to serve the sentence prior to May 28th, and with the STP reunion tour set to launch May 17th in Columbus, Ohio, Weiland will go to prison before the tour begins.

While he’s not in prison, Weiland took time out of his day to update his MySpace blog and alert fans that his new, Steve Albini-produced solo album will be out in November. The double-album will fuse “many different musical influences like rock, punk, r&b as well as an eclectic blend that we’ve come up with over the years.” Weiland also said he’s working with writer David Ritz on an autobiography, also due out later this year. Stay tuned to Rock Daily today for excerpts from Rolling Stone’s Evan Serpick’s recent conversation with Weiland.

No Rob, no one does care. I’m sorry.

ya think the other STP guys are saying “NOW I remember why we broke up , this guy is a mess”

They need THIS to realize that Scott’s a head case? I’m sure they were quite aware of the fact before now.

They’re just taking a gamble that Scott might be able to hold it together for a tour. He’s done it before. It’s a great band and they all want another go at it.

Scott needs to know this is it. He blows it this time there won’t another shot at a STP reunion.

VR is over and I’m pretty sure Scott knows deep down that he’s not really a solo act, so . . .

Awesome news. I can’t believe he’s had time to do enough songs for a double-album. I guess he worked on it a lot being on tour w/ VR. The autobiography will be a must-buy for me. Can you imagine the stories he has? I will buy his solo album and see at least one STP show this summer. Come on, Scott — enjoy this year and please don’t screw it up!!

I’ve come to love both Velvet Revolver albums so although I didn’t particularly like his first solo album I’m curious again about a 2nd.
I would prefer another STP but first choice is a third VR.

Has Slash ever addressed Weiland’s issues? Does he ever try to bond with his singers? I can’t accept VR is over. There must be some way to fix the problem.

About what Black Bottom said…
I was wondering the same thing.I love Slash but he just doesn’t seem to bond with his vocalists.Even when they were all with Guns N’ Roses, Slash and Axl didn’t really seem like friends to me. So I think Slash could do better in that area.Maybe there are some things they need to get worked out.Idk. But if Scott really is done with VR and isn’t gonna go back,I am kind of interested to see what the rest of the boys are gonna do next.If they keep VR going and just get a new vocalist or if they all go their seperate ways.Whatever it is I am sure it will be interesting.

OH HEAVENS YES!!!!! I AM SO FLIPPIN STOKED FOR THE REUNITING OF STP!!! SCOTT’S LONG AWAITED FOLLOW-UP TO 12 BAR BLUES IS ALMOST HERE!!! I CANNOT WAIT TO READ HIS NEW BOOK. FIRST DAY BUYER!!!!!!

Also, I think Scott is way better of w/o VR. Slash obviously thinks he’s the best thing going in every band in which he plays. Duff thinks he’s so flippin smart, but he’s just a junkie w/ no spleen, Sorum talks shit about everyone behind their backs, and Dave doesn’t speak. Who would want to play w/ them anyways?

SCOTTS THE MOTHERFUCKIN’ MAN

GO NOTRE DAME!!!!!

Mary | 5/1/2008, 7:08 pm EST

In fact, yes some people care and love this guy
