  • Scott Weiland confirmed to Howard Stern that he’s working on his second solo album with producer Steve Albini and No Doubt’s Adrian Young on drums.
  • Amy Winehouse’s estimated worth is nearly $20 million — enough to debut tenth on the 2008 Sunday Times Rich List, ranking the wealthiest Brits in music under 30. Leona Lewis also made her way onto the list.
  • Nick Lachey will host ABC’s upcoming High School Musical: Summer Session reality show. The show’s winner will “be a part of HSM history.”
  • Starbucks will hand over management of Hear Music to the Concord Group. In just over a year, the label released albums by Paul McCartney and Joni Mitchell.

Leave Scott alone! He has a perfect voice, love him! He has BiPolar that he is NOT treating! That requires incredible strength of character.

What a fucking country. When did we start saying “He may be a lush, but…” about drug addicts?

Give me a break. Weiland’s a dumbass; an older male version of Amy Winehouse.

Wow! I actually had a dream recently that Scott had a new solo album out. I suppose that dream is coming true. I love 12 bar blues and hope this one has more of the same adventurous sound.

Adrian Young laying it down with Steve Albini producing…should be interesting. I was always curious if he was/is a product of studio edits or what. For those of you who don’t know Steve Albini’s style in the studio - he is one of the few remaining rock and roll recording purists and doesn’t get involved in studio “magic” like auto-tuning vocals to robotic precision (yep…chances are that your favorite singer really isn’t that good. Sorry to burst your bubble.) and beat detecting drums into quantized synchronization with Pro Tools so that the drummer sounds more like a drum machine than a human playing in time to his internal chemistry.

Weiland can handle it, too. He may be a lush, but he’s a great talent. This is one of the few projects that’s piqued my curiosity so far this year. Should be interesting. I wonder who’s playing gits…Albini himself? Shellac meets STP meets No Doubt would be the sh!t in a way.
