Madonna’s new album Hard Candy is now available exclusively on MySpace, where it will stream for four days before it hits stores on Tuesday. In the current issue of Rolling Stone, Caryn Ganz says “For Hard Candy, Madonna’s midlife meditation on her own relevance, she lets top-shelf producers make her their plaything.” Click here for Rolling Stone’s four-star review of Hard Candy.

Madonna is even ugly in cartoons. How can a washed has-been have a four star album. Oh, right, she has been on RS’s jock for years now

Isn’t she like 62 years old?

She’s pretty damn old but great record have been made by old and young. It’s a great record, you ought to open your mind a little and listen to it rather than using her age to demean it. I’ve heard the whole thing 4 times, it sounds terrific. Kind of proves why she’s stayed as big as she is all these years, because she still records regularly and turns out quality.

Why does everyone make a big deal about Madonna being old – she’s the same age as Bon Jovi, the Chili Peppers and a lot of people who still record. And yet whenever she records all she does is get criticized for being old – it’s so stupid. And ironically of the 3, she’s the one who still makes the best records!

Portishead and Madonna released on the same day? My ears plan to explode (in a good way.)

Good album but this shows why I am not in the record business. Confessions on a dance floor was 50 times better yet got panned by most of the critics. The songs in this album reek from todays prodiucers. The other albums have a very clear madonna take and I think to some degree she sold out. This album will make more money than many of her recent ones, but its not as original as the others. Confessions is her best album in a very very long time, but what do I know. I loved it and many didnt

Hard Candy-a year later-has turned out to be a commercial misfire. It didn’t get played on Top 40 radio, but I don’t care about sales figures. It still is a brilliant Ciccone masterpiece that her fans-and those new to
the Lady Rebel Queen-could relate toand claim as their own. Hard Candy is not Top 40 pop, hip-hop
or contoporary R&B. It is
a rock & roll record about her brilliant life-her happiness, her sadness, her joy and her heartbreak-and our lives as well
-who have grown up with her. So count Hard Candy as another Madonna work of art, along with
True Blue, Like a Prayer, Evita,
Ray of Light, Music
and Confessions on a Dance Floor.
After I heard that last nots of Give It to Me on Sticky and Sweet, I was overcome with joy and love, knowing that I found a friend
-and her name is Madonna Ciccone.
Be ever so, Madge. There will be friends whereever you go in your brilliant life. In the evidence of your brilliance!
