The breakout guitar heroes of the year naturally got their jumpstart through Guitar Hero: DragonForce’s “Through the Fire and Flames” became a hit after appearing as the most difficult-to-play song on the hit video game’s latest version. Click here for more on DragonForce from Rolling Stone’s Best of Rock 2008, including clips of players conquering the killer tune.

Yngwie defined classical rock guitar! He changed everything in the early eighties! He was a 90 degree turn to what everyone else was doing.
He also constructs very good songs; remember without Yngwie, there would not be so many of the talented guitarists we see today.

I also don’t think that Dragonforce is good music. It´s just middle-term in my opinion. I’ve heard one of their cds and there were only about two or three good songs. But still, I think they put emotion into some songs like the Through the Fire and the Flames and Fury of the Storm. Well at least thets my interpretation.

I also don’t think that Dragonforce is good music. It´s just middle-term in my opinion. I’ve heard one of their cds and there were only about two or three good songs. But still, I don’t think there purely technical, they still have a few songs that have a meaning behind them, like Through the Fire and the Flames and Fury of the Storm. Well at least thets my interpretation.

i think in their music video they should show the drummer just to show how sweet it looks to keep up with their fast music

Buckethead and Yngwie shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence. Unlike Yngwie, Buckethead can play far more than just the harmonic minor scale.

i agree. that kind of music might be better technically speaking, but for the most part, the emphasis is on who can play the fastest solos, and by then the soul is lost from the music. they end up just sounding generic and robotic, like old video game music. they may be good technical guitarists that can play scales and arpeggios really fast, and there’s no problem with that, but the best guitarists use their instruments to convey their emotions. then there’s jeff beck, who can do both, which is why he’s awesome

I don’t consider Dragonforce to be good music. Bands like Buckethead and Yngwie Malmsteen annoy me because they are listened to almost purely because they impress the listeners. There is no emotion in the music. The reason guys like Clapton are amazing is that they play with feeling. A fast tempo isn’t everything. Emotion is.
