Weekend Rock List: Best “Green” Songs

4/18/08, 4:35 pm EST

Around the corner is Earth Day…and 4/20. Two very green days for two very different reasons. To mark these highest of holidays, this Rock List is dedicated to earth-friendly, tree-loving songs, the color green and songs about other activities. No matter what your concept of “green” is, tell us your picks and, depending how we’re feeling on Monday the 21st, we’ll gather the information and reveal your picks. Before you go outside to sit in the shade or go down to the corner bodega for some Swisher Sweets, check out our picks:

Elvis Costello – “Green Shirt”
Johnny Cash – “Green, Green Grass of Home”
Sublime – “Smoke Two Joints”
The Good, The Bad and The Queen – “Green Fields”
Weezer – “Hash Pipe” (from the Green Album — bonus points!)
