Gadget Envy: Skullcandy Double Agent Headphones

4/17/08, 4:50 pm EST

What It Is: A sweet looking pair of headphones that features an SD card slot that allows you to drag and drop music files directly onto the card for loading into the unit.

Who It’s For: People who want music on the go but would rather skip carring around an MP3 player.

Why It’s Worthy: First of all, the headphones have a delightfully old-school look and feel, so they function as a throwback accessory as well as a music playing device. The speakers are dynamic and sharp, and the whole thing runs on a rechargeable lithium ion battery that only demands an hour of charge time.

Our Only Complaint: The unit only comes with a 512 MB SD card, which only translates to about 120 songs (and fewer if you prefer higher-quality files). Updgrade to at least a one or two gig card.

Cost/Where to Get It: $99.95; Skullcandy (Available June 1st)

Skullcandy Headphones are the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen!!!

I’d sacrifice my first-born child to The God Of The Volcano to get my hands on a pair. Better?

People who would rather skip carrying around an mp3 player?
This must be for people who like wearing giant orange headphones that look like their from the 70’s.
They could make it look even cooler if they wore a beany with a propeller on top of it, and some of those giant plastic glasses and a foam clown nose.

a beany with a propellar . . . ha ha ha ha . . . a clown nose . . . ha ha ha

Hey man skullcandy kicks ass,
I have the skull crushers, fmj’s, icons, hesh, and have personally tried them out at their store in park city utah(the original store!)
They’re blutooth and come with a blutooth adapter that fits into the headphone slot of your ipod or mp3 player. They have volume up/down buttons and play/pause and also rev./next buttons. plus it comes with a skullcandy leather bag, tons of stickers and come with a long ass warranty!
Buy em this summer!

txteclipse | 5/13/2008, 7:39 pm EST

They will make black ones, so for those of you ragging on the orange color you can go ahead and stop complaining.

These are the first headphones with an integrated mp3 player made by a respectable company, as far as I’m concerned, and they will probably be freakishly comfortable if S.C.’s rep has anything to say about it. On top of that, they look good, and if you disagree just wear a beanie or hat over them. That’s what they’re made for anyways, being targeted at snowboarders and all. I don’t know about you all, but I hate cords, so these will be a lifesaver.

i have a pair of bouble agentsand they rock!!
1. there super loud
2. memory cards r cheap
3. they come in all black so there not ugly
4. and battery chargesin 1 hour and last 8 hours.

I am wondering if, when you get a blue tooth adapter for your iPod, it still allows you control through you iPod (like playing certain songs/playlists) or does it treat it all the music on the iPod as a giant playlist? Thanks

are they compitable to sd card for psp

darrin | 5/12/2009, 12:30 pm EST

skull candy are the best

I just got a pair of these and they are a novelty item, a toy really. The plastic is cheap. Like McDonalds toy plastic. The sound quality is sub par at best. Even plugged in to an ipod lowriders sound much better. I paid sale price for mine and would have returned them had they been full price. The convenience is nice. I’m sure I’ll use them but they’ll never be my primary headphones. If you’re looking for a serious pair of great quality sound, these are not for you. If you don’t give a sh*t how your music sounds, these are for you.

i love skull candy, they are awsome, my only prob with these is that you cant have play lists, and so you only put music on this that you always listen to. i prefer s.c. hesh and a ipod to this. but the wireles idea is rly good

will | 7/14/2009, 8:32 am EST

loved them at ONE POINT but suddenlt stopped working and it seems like alot of other people onine experienced same problem

Ki | 8/16/2009, 6:09 pm EST

At first, when I got these headphones, I was worried. there are thin wires that extend from the headpiece to the actual speakers and I was afraid that they would snap off or something. They haven’t yet, but i’m still worried.

Also, at first, I was confused by the GUI (a bicolour LED) so after playing around with it a while, i’ll help the people who are still confused.

1) TURN ON (Purple-red-blue) turning from off-on and awaiting in pause mode

2) PLAY (blue to blue flashing) playing

3) UNPLUG SD CARD AND REPLUG IT (blue to off) this means that there is a reading problem. I find that unplugging the SD card and replugging it often fixes the problem

4) TURN OFF (blue-red-blue-red-blue-red) This turns the skullcandy’s mp3 off.

“They could make it look even cooler if they wore a beany with a propeller on top of it, and some of those giant plastic glasses and a foam clown nose.”

I don’t know, that sounds kinda retro .. sounds good to me!

Steve Nouel | 9/19/2009, 2:06 pm EST

I got the all black ones… yes they’re big, but its one of the best sound qualities that your ears can experience plus it has a built in MP3. No problems until now, very light too… they don’t look bad at all… Better than having to buy 20 earbuds a year. 9 out of 10.

Heather | 10/24/2009, 8:28 pm EST

I got the all black ones for Christmas last year. I wanted them to go to the gym with so I didn’t have to worry about wires getting in the way. I loved them, but they did suddenly stop working for no reason. My husband called skullcandy and they had us send them in to them. It took a while, but we finally got word back that they were just going to send us a brand new one. I now have the black ones that have just a touch of green on them. I actually like this pair better and I’m really hoping it lasts this time. I love the headphones, if only they would last, so I’m really hoping skullcandy has fixed whatever problem they might’ve had with them last year.
