News Ticker: Foxy Brown, EMI, Brian May, Shirley Manson

4/14/08, 2:45 pm EST

  • Incarcerated rapper Foxy Brown will be released from her parole violation stint New York’s Rikers Island prison on April 18th. Her new album Brooklyn’s Don Diva is due out May 13th.
  • The 2,000 planned job cuts at EMI Music will now likely not take effect until June as the label needs more money to cover restructuring costs following Terra Firma’s takeover last year.
  • Queen guitarist Brian May was officially installed as the Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University in the U.K. May was honored for his contributions to the study of astronomy and promoting science to the public.
  • The solo album from Garbage’s Shirley Manson has been put on hold as the singer and her record label differ on how to handle the “very noir” music and its promotion. “I’m 41, I’m a woman not a kid. I have no interest in making silly pop music,” Manson said on her MySpace blog.

Madonnas 60-70? and has a Myspace account. Shirley Manson is the only female out there not making a a-hole out of her self like Madonna.. I hope she comes out with some great stuff and its recived well. I guess Madonna’s bank account can buy everything…

She doesn’t have a myspace page. This article is misquoted. It’s probably from a fan’s page.

Even so, many established musicians (very adult ones) have music myspace pages/blogs. It’s a great way to get your music advertised.
