hopefully this doesnt turn crazy political during an Election year.

damn it | 4/7/2008, 9:52 am EST

wish i could go, with Radiohead being there, and hearing bangers and mash on pitchfork this morning, sounds like they are going to do some hard rocking at Lollapalooza!!!

:D

Nathan | 4/7/2008, 9:59 am EST

Great headliners, but Lolla got a weaker middle bill than in years past. Usually, the thing that seperates Lollapalooza from other festivals is that it has an extensive middle bill. Thats just not the case this year.

asdf | 4/7/2008, 10:57 am EST

Elliott, why would it turn political? I don’t think any of the headliners have ever spoken out about politics. I mean, Rage is all about having a good time.

Murphy | 4/7/2008, 11:58 am EST

NIN with Finck (he left fakegnr) will kick ass!!!

goood | 4/7/2008, 12:42 pm EST

Good line up…
bands I wanna see

MGMT
The Postelles
Black Kids
Black Lips
RADIOHEAD

cant wait

Bodhi K | 4/7/2008, 1:33 pm EST

The line up sucks!

MCD | 4/7/2008, 2:14 pm EST

I agree with Nathan. Much weaker mid tier bands than in past years. No MMJ, Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, etc. The headliners are great though.

Anonymous | 4/7/2008, 3:13 pm EST

good headliners- mid level acts a little weak. But… Love and Rockets- def going to see them!

Hopefully more, better mid-levels will be added. If not, I have no problem rolling the dice and going to see some acts I dont know.
Be brave people!

I think this lineup is amazing. However, most people will probably just not get it since it is much more tilted towards the indie scene than previous years. However, people who actually know their stuff should be excited to see so many bands with great cd’s and buzz coming.

I am most exicted for:
1. MGMT
2. Noah and the Whale
3. Dr. Dog
4. Rogue Wave
5. Bloc Party
6. Radiohead

the only major criticism I have is the repeat of several bands who appeared last year

Berk | 4/7/2008, 3:18 pm EST

The mid tier may seem weak now but most of the bands in the middle had great and impressive SXSW shows and by August, will seem like the right fit for the fest I bet.

Matt | 4/7/2008, 3:27 pm EST

Sweet line up. pretty pumped to be seeing jbt

jimmy | 4/7/2008, 5:28 pm EST

YEA! JBT is a NZ band! woo. goodshit that they can represent at a gigantic festival like this!

mfingninja | 4/7/2008, 6:51 pm EST

I will pay $175 just to see, rage, besides tool, no band since Zepplin has sounded as amazing live… I can’t wait!

led-head | 4/7/2008, 7:48 pm EST

Elliot probably is talking about Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder.

Anonymous | 4/7/2008, 9:28 pm EST

Am I the only one here that absolutely hates Radiohead? UGHH!!!

So this year’s headliner is a bust, but NIN and Rage Against the Machine are both uber-awesome. The Raconteurs, Bloc Party, Lupe Fiasco, and Kanye are also awesome, but the line-up as a whole has no depth at all (completely geared towards indie fans).

IMO, I would have bought tickets if The Mars Volta and Stone Temple Pilots had been on the bill.

kevin in chicago | 4/7/2008, 10:19 pm EST

enough with Indie bands, we get it. They’re ‘hip’. But those bands are boring live.

but the Headliners are great this year,….living in Chicago makes it even better

rubbish | 4/8/2008, 1:44 am EST

buncha wankers, can’t spy meself there. not all sound is music but wish ratm would do a US tour so I could get them without this rubbish

musicwinter.com | 4/8/2008, 3:49 pm EST

NIN, radiohead, Rage!!!
Any of you hacks that rip on the line up should pick up a guitar and hear your worthless rantings. Cheers to Ferrel who really came through for Grant Park this year. Just got 3 day passes

dudefromthemoon | 4/13/2008, 9:30 am EST

HA HA TONKA!!!!!!AMAZING

Sasquatch | 5/13/2008, 2:24 pm EST

I can’t beleive the consensus is that this lineup is weak. Just because YOU don’t know who they are doesn’t mean they’re no good. This is the first year the fill hasn’t been total BS Preteen Rock. The revolution has already begun, and it looks like this years side stages. Half these Bands will be headlining in two years, so if you’re not on board be prepared to get left behind. You all can continue to wallow in your radio mediocrity, I’ll take real rock anyday. Parlor mob Will take over the world.
