Video: Behind the Scenes at the Rolling Stones and Jack White Cover Shoot

4/2/08, 9:53 am EST

What happens when you stick a trio of rock legends in the same room for a Rolling Stone cover shoot? They crack a bottle of wine, grab some acoustic guitars and get comfortable chatting about playing live and Martin Scorsese’s new documentary Shine a Light. Click above to check out Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Jack White in action as photographer Max Vadukul snapped away.

Stones fan.

legends? | 4/2/2008, 2:38 pm EST

Jack’s great. I’m a big fan but is he really a legend? What almost unbelievable things have we heard of him doing, like Mick and Keith?

Gazbar | 4/2/2008, 8:43 pm EST

Jack White is the most relative rocker of today and teamed up with Mick and Keith is electrifying.

jack white rules | 4/2/2008, 8:43 pm EST

what is jack singing in this video? everything he does sounds good

Linda | 4/3/2008, 6:09 am EST

Jack is singing Top yourself from the new raconteurs album.

Jack White = LOSER | 4/3/2008, 10:06 am EST

Someone shot this poser!

Bruce | 4/3/2008, 11:29 am EST

Jack looks like a fourteen year old next to these aged (I would say “aging” but the process is done!) rockers. In twenty years he will be a true icon, and sadly will still be ashamed of being from Detroit!

Angie | 4/3/2008, 1:06 pm EST

I still like to believe that the Stones have one great album left in them. I think they need to drop Don Was from their recording team, hook up with Rick Rubin or T-Bone Burnett, and make a modern-day Beggars Banquet.

Nancy J | 4/4/2008, 1:51 am EST

To Jack White = LOSER

It’s “Someone shoot this poser”. If you can’t spell, your opinion means squat!!!!!

Jack White is a legend!!!

AlexMA | 4/4/2008, 7:37 am EST

What this video proves is that there are a lot of cool shots taken during the shoot. Why use the simple smiling one for the actual cover? I don’t get it

Meg | 4/4/2008, 10:09 am EST

Jack White is a musical genius.

gaby | 4/4/2008, 5:28 pm EST

if you wannna see magic on stage and with the audience, watch the shows that they did in argentina.of course it`s not gonna be an scorsese film but you gonna find passion, and for that you don`t need any money.

Jack=Winner | 4/5/2008, 9:24 am EST

Jack a poser? Yeh right, ’cause music icons like the Stones, Page, Dylan, Townshend, et.al. always surround themselves with posers, don’t they?
There’s a reason he was picked to play with them and be a part of this photo, at least be intelligent enough to realize that.

noaHK | 4/5/2008, 9:49 am EST

i like the interaction of the old and new guard of rock in this scenario. mick was king in his day just like jack is today. a cool dynamic

love jack | 4/6/2008, 9:59 am EST

i want to hear more of him singing!

GHOST | 4/6/2008, 10:20 am EST

they are a large part of my life
their music will go on forever

PAUL | 4/6/2008, 3:50 pm EST

I see absolutely no connection between the Rolling Stones and Jack White. Please explain.

nana | 4/6/2008, 6:42 pm EST

Awesome! I’m so happy they chose Loving Cup. It’s one of the best Stones songs that doesn’t get played a lot. Did they have Mick stand on a box for the cover?

nana | 4/6/2008, 6:44 pm EST

If you see no connection, I feel sorry for you. Both love and respect blues music.

vnufall | 4/6/2008, 10:46 pm EST

all you gotta do is watch jack white play the guitar…to realize his genius…and he does lots of innovative stuff. that said he was influensed by the stones, zeppelin and others. i love the rolling stones and jack white…kudos to all

Alex | 4/7/2008, 5:35 pm EST

Jack is the next generation. He is a true individual who has created his own sound that others try to emulate. Not unlike the Stones in their heyday. He graced the cover because he is a profilic musician with the confidence to undeniably be himself. Is touring the world making amazing music not unbelievable?

Wow, | 4/9/2008, 10:41 pm EST

I’ve seen both Jack White and The Rolling Stones play live, it’s quite a privilege for a high-school student to get that kind of musical exposure. After seeing them I felt a kind of elation, that I haven’t been able to match.

Elated | 4/13/2008, 7:43 pm EST

There is no English word for the musical gift these rockers have. The closest I can think of is soul. I often put 60’s rockers with Jack White on my play lists and am super pleased to see Rolling Stone is making the same equation!

Kevin Patrick Cronin | 4/16/2008, 11:21 am EST

The Rolling Stones are the world’s greatest rock band. The Beatles and especially Led Zepellin are mere pretenders to the throne. Keith Richards is the best guitarist since Jimi Hendrix and Jagger is the best singer songwriter of the past firty years.

Luv mytele | 4/19/2008, 8:24 pm EST

This summer I made it a point to see the IMAX viewing of “Shine A Light” while in B.C. I’ve been a huge Stones fan since the 70’s. Now I’m also a huge Jack White fan. I LOVED it!

Allison | 3/16/2009, 10:13 am EST

Jack White is the most original and innovative musician of his generation. How cool that lengends like the Stones, who could have picked anyone, chose Jack. Amazing!
