Spring Album Preview: Motley Crue Reveal “The Dirt” On Their New Album

4/2/08, 4:33 pm EST

“This album has the vibe of Dr. Feelgood, Girls Girls Girls and Shout at the Devil,” promises Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx of the original lineup’s first album since 1997. The still-untitled album borrows heavily from Crüe’s autobiography The Dirt and attempts to recapture the glitter rock sound with song titles like “Down at the Whisky” and “White Trash Circus.” “There’s also a lot of humor because, let’s face it, we’re ridiculously funny,’” Sixx says. To read more about the Crüe’s new album, check out our Spring Album Preview in the Rolling Stones-and-Jack White-covered issue of RS (on stands now) or check back here Friday for the expanded version of the feature.

Tommy Lee is a walking Social Disease on legs…pure White Trash…that blonde guy is bloated…pure toilet noise

Um, great reporting, guys. The band’s last album was in 2000, not 1997.

“This album has the vibe of Dr. Feelgood, Girls Girls Girls and Shout at the Devil, promises Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx.”

In other words, it’s going to suck.

It’s the 1st album with the original lieup since 1997s Generation Swine.

Matt | 4/2/2008, 6:48 pm EST

1997 was the last album with the original line up. New Tattoo was in 2000 but Tommy Lee had jumped ship and was repleced by the late Randy Castillo

“the original lineup’s first album since 1997″

new tattoo which came out in 2000 was not with Tommy Lee, generation swine was the last one with all four guys.

Thank God!! No one rocks like THE CRUE. It’s time to show all those kids like Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco and all the others that have occupied the front of ROLLINGSTONE how it’s done.

Superfiend | 4/2/2008, 7:56 pm EST

I’ve read The Dirt multiple times. On the one hand, it’s one of the greatest books I’ve ever read. On the other hand, I still can’t figure out how any of them did what they did and not die of AIDS.

Rockstar70 | 4/3/2008, 10:20 am EST

How about a cover story when the album comes out!!

Steve Ryan | 4/3/2008, 10:21 am EST

The band’s last album was in 2000, but this is the first album since 1997 with the original lineup, consisting of Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, Vince Neil, and Tommy Lee. This report states that correctly. Read it over, and you will see they have their facts straight.

200 years from now, when all the bands of today are forgotten, you could walk in to a strip club and people will still be rocking out to “Girls, Girls, Girls”…Long live Motley Crue!

batparty | 4/3/2008, 4:22 pm EST

y’know, not everyone is into aerobics like mick jagger. so if vince likes to drink, and doesn’t try to hide it, let him be. i go for the music, not for how “pretty” they still are. in an age where rock basically is almost dead, i appreciate the older bands showing these “here today, gone tomorrow” kids how to rock properly. one more thing, jim morrison got fat, but i think that l.a. woman was their second best album next to their debut. so lay off the looks, and listen to the frickin’ music!

katfisch | 4/4/2008, 10:10 am EST
