
- Both Mariah Carey and Madonna made Billboard news this week as both singers bypassed Elvis Presley to make chart history. By scoring her eighteenth number one single with “Touch My Body,” Carey passed Presley for number two on the all-time number ones list (the Beatles, who had twenty singles chart-toppers, hold tight at the top spot). Meanwhile, Madonna usurped Presley as the sole owner of the record of the most career Top Ten singles, as her “Four Minutes” became her thirty-seventh.
- A lost John Lennon song called “Now and Then” may make an appearance on an upcoming tribute to the “fifth Beatle” Neil Aspinall. The home recording would reportedly require a restoration, though there is no word whether Paul McCartney or Ringo Starr would participate in a re-recording of the song.
- The Sundance Channel is set to air the show Elvis Costello With…, a thirteen-episode talk show hosted by Costello. Elton John will serve as executive producer of the show.
