I agree with the poster who noted the hypocrisy of punks attacking emos because of how they look. You’d think that they would sympathize with other members of an outcast subculture, even if they dislike the fashion or the music.

Punks, metal heads, skaters, hardcore kids, and yes, emos are all outsiders, and at the very least should be tolerant of one another. Those groups suffer enough prejudice from normal society, why should they fight amongst themselves?

Belive it or not in Tijuana theres a anti-emo warning right now, i never seen this kind of behavior in Mexico, this is a country were young people never speak their minds against the system. Emo, punk, what difference does it make what style of music you like? For the record i can’t stand emo and only listen to punk occasionally. The problem on both sides is their narrow minded ideology. Punks are anti-conformity and deliberately set themselves apart with their mohawks and boots, etc. Punks are hypocrites because they are “anti-conformists yet have a code of dress and ethics that you must “conform” to in order to be considered a punk. And if you say you like other styles of music, then you’re not a true fan. WTF?I know what i like thank you very much. But what is your definition of Emo? I like to wear black because I feel comfortable in it, like one of my friends feels comfortable in blue. Does that mean I’m Emo? Do I deserve to die in the streets just because some group of thugs doesn’t like the way I look? Did Sophie Lancaster? What’s the border between Emo and Goth?

Please remember that it is commonplace in a society of intolerance to have a government that conquers and divides the people. While all these young people are busy fighting over trivial and overexagerated differences, their government continues to conduct itself in ways that are corrupt and undetected by the masses because they are so distracted with fighting amongst eachother and being pawns in the game of internal division. Imagine the danger that would be posed to the government if all these young people stood up as a united front and contfronted the real corruption and oppressor, their government!! I found out about this through a friend and when I read this I was next to my boyfriend who is a proud mexican. It really made me mad that people are getting beat up cause they wanna be different. I, personally really hate Emo. I think it is a shallow, histrionic, fashon-concieted trend and the music itself(which I always listen to before I make a judgement) is bland, pretentious, and overly commercial. I feel like rock and roll now is just like the glam/hair bands of the 80’s, but with punk overtones instead of metal. That being said, I dont think its right to assault Emo kids for being different. At all. The punks who attacked those kids forgot the true meaning of punk-acceptence. What pisses me off is that these punks never had to pay their dues as punks. I am 17, and I see many people in my generation the same way. These punks became punks after it was already cool. They forget(or dont even know) that the origional punks had the same problem with jock assholes beating them up, ironically, because THEY were seen as queers. If the Mexican punks had had to pay the price of being an outcast for their right of expression, they wouldnt be beating up on emo kids. Mexican teens were not pioneers of the genre; they never slaved away in rundown clubs or pressed their own vinyl out of the scraps left over from other companies, or in any way paid any debt for punk rock. They forget that punk was supposed to be anti-macho, and these punks have grotesquely twisted that around. They have disgraced punks all over the world with their macho ignorance. I will say one good thing for Emo, and one bad. First, the Emo culture has brought a better acceptence of gays in America….but it still needs work. Second…one thing that frustrates me about emo is that while they claim to be different(respectful) towards women, if you listen to any given Emo song(Fall Out Boy have some great examples of this, as do Panic at the Disco) it simply demonizes the woman. No fresh perspective, or bittersweet longing, just good ol’ tried and true rock and roll misogyny. If anything, they are occasionally worse than, say, Puddle of Mudd, because they are much more poetic and venomous about hating women….

Emo these days is just a trend or a look, that uncontrollably became popular and is now spreading amongst the neighboring countries. Mexico is bringing shame to their country and showing that freedom hardly even exists there. The emo trend is not an “alternative” fashion, but a disgusting downward spiral of masculinity. We can point directly at excessive liberalism for this sad new fad.

Because of this excessive liberalism and this attitude of “expressing dark feelings” amongst angsty teens, bisexuality (not even true bisexual feelings) and finding acceptance in pretending to be “hurt and misunderstood” is common amongst these impressionable sheep.

Soonly they began to adopt the look. Well then some dudes who couldn’t find dates got the idea that maybe if they dressed like them too maybe these Below standard girls would want their dicks. And Well, truly it worked. Emo never really existed Untill…. Some jerk off 12-14 year old boys saw how well it worked and began to think that That style makes you “cool” and so they took the style on claiming to be true real emos. Well it began to grow and grow as people took it too seriously when it was JUST A GIMMICK TO GET GIRLS. The Useless look alikes then Stole the trade mark Black band shirts, Convers, Stud belts and long hair from metal and “Gayed” it up. They stole bits and pieces from every other already existing genre. Emo is a sad Looser Sub-sub-sub genre that was founded on a gimmick.
Emo girls are one thing, But any and all Emo dudes Diverse to be Trolled irl and made fun of until it dies.
