When punk exploded in California in the late 1970s, photographer Jenny Lens was there to capture it all. Her first book Punk Pioneers: When Punk Was Fun (available now for pre-order) features classic shots of punk icons like Iggy Pop, the Germs, the Clash and the Ramones. “QUEENS OF NOISE”… Thank the great photo guru in the sky for Jenny Lens. Her photos are amazing and truly capture a time when I could stay up all night, party, hang out with some of the craziest and creative people and now 50 can sit back, pour a strong one and look at the many pictures that tell a great story. I realize not every important band from the LA scene is in this book… but stay tuned kitties… Ms. Lens has THOUSANDS more to reveal. And much more stories. It was a fun time and I hope your readers enjoy it. Jenny’s picture prove that Alice Bag was shaking her Latina groove thing way before J-LO! : )~
Does anyone else have a Germ burn?

Thank you Rolling Stone! How wonderful to see my Johnny Rotten and Joan Jett in color, cos RS published that shot in May, 1978, but in black and white.

Tons of thanks to RS online editor. What a nice rockin’ dude!

This book took far more time, energy, heartbreak and work than anyone can comprehend.

I previously cried so much that I fell into a heap on the floor after finding, scanning, working on photos of those who have passed. Of missed ops. Of those times gone. Times when we could be true Bohemians and make art and music on no money, no traffic, and no stylists, no online. Just spirits brought together. And too many are now gone . . . .

So please ENJOY and spread the word! Without your support, my work ends, and more photos will never be seen.

Visit my site, jennylens.com. I only have a fraction of my shots posted, and the site needs work, oy vey, but hey, we gotta accept what we can.

Write me cos I always write back and love hearing stories and feedback! Thanks!

We’re desperate, get used to it.
