News Ticker: Coachella, Journey, Kid Rock, Iron Maiden

3/12/08, 8:15 am EST

  • Festival promoters Goldenvoice announced Aphex Twin, Goldfrapp, Kate Nash and Serj Tankian have been added to this year’s Coachella Festival. Goldenvoice also told Billboard.com fans shouldn’t expect lineup additions to their new All Points West Festival.
  • Journey will release a three-disc CD/DVD package exclusively at Wal-Mart on June 3 featuring one CD of re-recorded classics, a second of new tracks, and a live DVD.
  • Kid Rock held a meet-and-greet as a means of making amends with the Atlanta Waffle House where he was arrested last year. The event benefited an area homeless shelter.
  • Iron Maiden will release Somewhere Back in Time, a combination of classic tracks from the band’s first ten years and a live album from their current tour. The album will also be available as a free download that will expire after three listens.

Who is your favorite singer?
Would you buy an album from a soundalike of that singer - one that not only sings the other’s songs, but mimics their every inflection?

I don’t get it.

Where the integrity? Both from Jrny, and the buying public.

Is there something wrong with HONESTY ? My posting was removed because I pointed out that this “JOURNEY” is a bogus tribute band !?!?!? That the first disc will be RErecordings ? LOOK IT UP!!! I’m not making this stuff up!!!

Speaking of Coachella (and not being able to post on the SXSW update)

Does It Offend You, Yeah? is hands down one of the greatest live bands I’ve ever seen.
I had the privilege of seeing them when I was in England awhile back with a friend I know who lives there. Not only will they be a highlight of SXSW, they will take Coachella by storm and be easily one of the best live shows to ever hit Indio.

Whoa !!! RErecordings by the NEW lineup ??? No thanks. Hate ‘ tribute’ bands. If I want to hear a cover band,I’ll go to a bar.
Steve Perry…where are ya brother?

This just in… Kid Rock ordered the Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘n Fruity pancakes at the Atlanta Waffle House and helped himself to some cranberry juice. I’m sure RS will keep us apprised of these fascinating developments as they come in.

I like your comment Mikey Z!

Journey to the poorhouse | 3/12/2008, 9:31 am EST

,,,,oh yeah, let’s all buy music at Wallmart, they can reap the profits while we taxpayers can support their working poor empoyees. You see, very very rich people need all that money, and besides, American taxpayers can pony up the money to pay for the health care that Wallmart does’nt offer. What a country.

Mikey Z. | 3/12/2008, 9:01 am EST

GUESS THE JOURNEY NEWS IS QUITE AN EXCLUSIVE!?! CAN’T FIND A PEEP ABOUT THIS ANYWHERE ELSE INC. WAL MART’S SITE !!!
