Janet Jackson Cancels “SNL” Appearance, Blames Flu

3/12/08, 9:25 am EST

After going to the hospital Monday night, Janet Jackson canceled her appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend after suffering a bout with the flu. According to Jackson’s publicist, the singer was forced to pull out of SNL because “she needs some time to get better.” No replacement musical act has been announced for the show, which will be hosted by Superbad and Knocked Up star Jonah Hill. Jackson was set to perform on the show for the first time since April 2004 — when she was both host and musical guest — to promote her new album Discipline.

The show will be better with MC. Janet has lip-synced for every performance I’ve ever seen televised, including previous SNL appearances. Makes me wonder why they don’t just show some of her videos since she can’t appear. Having artist who can’t sing live kinda tarnishes SNL’s musical history of some amazing live performances.

The Black Crowes would be a nice replacement for the SNL gig!
